ENANTIOSELECTIVE REDUCTION OF PROCHIRAL KETONES PROMOTED BY AMINO AMIDE RUTHENIUM COMPLEXES: A DFT STUDY

2021

International audience; The origin of enantioselectivity in the reaction of chiral Ru amino amide complexes in the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone was investigated using DFT calculations. For the most stable active catalysts, the full free energy profiles for the reaction were calculated according to the concerted hydrogen transfer mechanism. We succeeded in reproducing the experimentally observed enantioselectivity for the studied Ru amino amide complexes. Our results indicate that the high enantioselectivity can be explained by a stabilizing CH-π interaction existing between the phenyl group of acetophenone and the aromatic substituent of the catalyst, which plays a sign…

T cells can present antigens such as HIV gp120 targeted to their own surface molecules

1988

To trigger class II-restricted T cells, antigen presenting cells have to capture antigens, process them and display their fragments in association with class II molecules. In most species, activated T cells express class II molecules; however, no evidence has been found that these cells can present soluble antigens. This failure may be due to the inefficient capture, processing or display of antigens in a stimulatory form by T-cells. The capture of a soluble antigen, which is achieved by nonspecific mechanisms in macrophages and dendritic cells, can be up to 10(3) times more efficient in the presence of surface receptors, such as surface immunoglobulin on B cells that specifically bind anti…

Herpes virus saimiri-transformed human T lymphocytes: normal functional phenotype and preserved T cell receptor signalling

1993

Herpes virus saimiri (HVS), a primate herpes virus, transforms human CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes to continuous growth in vitro. We have previously shown that HVS-transformed human T cells (HVS-T cells) respond to stimulation via CD2 with autocrine growth. In the present study we have investigated the functional characteristics of HVS-T cells. We describe that these cells can perform all the functions of normal T cells, i.e. cytokine secretion, cytotoxicity, and exocytosis of granule esterases. All these activities can be triggered via CD2 by binding to its natural ligand or via the TCR, e.g. by anti-TCR antibodies, by recognition of a bacterial superantigen and by MHC-restricted recognition…

3‐D CALCULATION OF ZERO‐COMPONENT FLUX IN THREE‐PHASE THREE‐COLUMN TRANSFORMER

1994

The paper discusses the problem of space distribution of zero‐component magnetic flux generated in three‐column transformer. For 3‐D magnetic field calculation the method of integral equations was used. The numerical calculations were made for physical model of the transformer and compared with experimental results. The accuracy of the calculations of the magnetic field, achieved in the work, proves that the modelling may be used as a computer aided designing tool.

The first colonization of Ibiza and Formentera (Balearic Islands, Spain): Some more islands out of the stream?

1995

Abstract The Balearic Islands, off the east coast of Spain, have provided a focus of interest in investigations of the earliest colonization of the Mediterranean islands, because of the relatively late date of their oldest sites. Mallorca was visited in the fifth millennium BC and inhabited by the third, and Menorca was colonized during the closing centuries of the third millennium; this therefore makes Ibiza and Formentera special cases of isolation, since they were evidently not occupied until about 2000 BC and moreover were essentially deserted between roughly the thirteenth and seventh centuries BC. The paper presents all the currently available data relevant to this question, particula…

A funerary perspective on the Bell Beaker period in the Wester Mediterranean Reading the social context of individual burials at La Vital (Gandia, Va…

2013

[EN] The discussion about social dynamics in recent Pre- history is supported by the study of funerary practices. The presence and significance of individual and collec- tive burials in Final Neolithic/Chalcolithic societies in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula provides new evi- dence for the debate concerning the emergence of social inequalities in this region. Our contribution is based on the recent discovery and excavation of several individual pit burials in domestic contexts at the site of La Vital (Gandía, Valencia). The particularities of the identified burials (different ritual episodes) and their content (Bell Beaker pottery, metal objects, animal offerings) together with an …

La prehistoria de Ibiza y Formentera: estado actual de la investigación

1988

The study of the prehistory of Ibiza and Formentera, the two small islands that form the Pityussae sub-group within the Balearic archipelago, began a few years ago as a consequence of the discovery and excavation of the megalithic chamber tomb of a Ca Na Costa on Formentera. Before then, prehistorians were still in doubt as to whether these islands had been occupied before the Phoenician colonisation. Many sites have come to light in the last decade, allowing us to present for the first time a general survey of the prehistoric settlement of the islands. Nevertheless, many problems are still unsolved, and new excavations are needed to establish the apparently complex cultural sequence, which…
