Bounded and unbounded solutions for a class of quasi-linear elliptic problems with a quadratic gradient term

Abstract Our aim in this article is to study the following nonlinear elliptic Dirichlet problem: − div [a(x,u)·∇u]+b(x,u,∇u)=f, in Ω; u=0, on ∂Ω; where Ω is a bounded open subset of RN, with N>2, f∈L m (Ω) . Under wide conditions on functions a and b, we prove that there exists a type of solution for this problem; this is a bounded weak solution for m>N/2, and an unbounded entropy solution for N/2>m⩾2N/(N+2). Moreover, we show when this entropy solution is a weak one and when can be taken as test function in the weak formulation. We also study the summability of the solutions.

Theoretical study of a Bénard Marangoni problem

[EN] In this paper we prove the existence of strong solutions for the stationary Benard-Marangoni problem in a finite domain flat on the top, bifurcating from the basic heat conductive state. The Benard-Marangoni problem is a physical phenomenon of thermal convection in which the effects of buoyancy and surface tension are taken into account. This problem is modelled with a system of partial differential equations of the type Navier-Stokes and heat equation. Path integral solution for non-linear system enforced by Poisson White Noise

Abstract In this paper the response in terms of probability density function of non-linear systems under Poisson White Noise is considered. The problem is handled via path integral (PI) solution that may be considered as a step-by-step solution technique in terms of probability density function. First the extension of the PI to the case of Poisson White Noise is derived, then it is shown that at the limit when the time step becomes an infinitesimal quantity the Kolmogorov–Feller (K–F) equation is fully restored enforcing the validity of the approximations made in obtaining the conditional probability appearing in the Chapman Kolmogorov equation (starting point of the PI). Nuclear quantum effects in liquid water from path-integral simulations using anab initioforce-matching approach

We have applied path integral simulations, in combination with new ab initio based water potentials, to investigate nuclear quantum effects in liquid water. Because direct ab initio path integral simulations are computationally expensive, a flexible water model is parameterized by force-matching to density functional theory-based molecular dynamics simulations. The resulting effective potentials provide an inexpensive replacement for direct ab inito molecular dynamics simulations and allow efficient simulation of nuclear quantum effects. Three simultaneous dissolution profiles on a solid pharmaceutical formulation by a FIA manifold provided with a single spectrophotometric detector.

This article deals with the simultaneous determination of three dissolution profiles in the same pharmaceutical formulation. The officially proposed procedure from the pharmacopoeias is adapted to the FIA methodology to obtain the officially recommended profile or "global profile", and two "individual" profiles, corresponding to dissolution rate of two different active principles present in the formulation; both drugs have overlapped UV-vis spectra. Spectrophotometric determination of adrenaline with an oxidative column in a FIA assembly

Abstract A single channel FIA assembly is proposed for the spectrophotometric determination of adrenaline, the aqueous sample solution is directly injected into the carrier stream leading the sample through a manganese dioxide column at 80°C, and on to the spectrophotometer flow-cell. The calibration graph is linear up to 17 ppm of adrenaline. The influence of other substances has been studied and the method has been applied to the determination of adrenaline in a pharmaceutical formulation.

Spray Freeze Dried Lyospheres® for Nasal Administration of Insulin

Pharmacologically active macromolecules, such as peptides, are still a major challenge in terms of designing a delivery system for their transport across absorption barriers and at the same time provide sufficiently high long-term stability. Spray freeze dried (SFD) lyospheres® are proposed here as an alternative for the preparation of fast dissolving porous particles for nasal administration of insulin. Continuous-flow spectrophotometric determination of sulfadiazine by diazotisation with in situ preparation of nitrite

Abstract Nitrite is prepared in situ for the determination of sulfadiazine. The method is based on solid-phase reduction of copperized cadmium of nitrate; the nitrite reagent merges with the sample stream in hydrochloric acid medium and the resulting mixture is injected into the water carrier, pure distilled water, and then merges with the N-(1-naphthyl)ethylendiamine reagent and is measured spectrophotometrically at 542.0 nm. Inhibition of the system luminol-H2O2-Fe(CN)63− chemiluminescence by the Mn(II) indirect determination of isoniazid in a pharmaceutical formulation

A flow injection procedure for the indirect chemiluminescent determination of isoniazid is proposed. The method is performed in a flow-injection manifold provided with a solid-phase reactor. The reactor was made from manganese dioxide physically entrapped by polymerization; the redox reaction isoniazid-manganese dioxide released Mn(II) which was monitored through its inhibitory effect on the reaction between luminol and hydrogen peroxide in presence of potassium hexacyanoferrate (III).
