Some Notes About Distribution Frame Multipliers

2020

Inspired by a recent work about distribution frames, the definition of multiplier operator is extended in the rigged Hilbert spaces setting and a study of its main properties is carried on. In particular, conditions for the density of domain and boundedness are given. The case of Riesz distribution bases is examined in order to develop a symbolic calculus.

Active faults and inferred seismic sources in the San Vito lo Capo peninsula, Northwestern Sicily, Italy.

2006

Two independent active faults, capable of generating medium-sized earthquakes in the San Vito lo Capo peninsula, northwestern Sicily (Italy) have been identified as a result of detailed field studies. In western Sicily, instrumental seismicity is low; in fact, except for the 1968 Belice earthquake (Ms = 5.4), historical records indicate that this area is relatively quiescent. Most of the seismicity is in the offshore sector of the Sicilian Maghrebian Chain, which is characterized by several medium- to low-magnitude events. The main shock of the 2002 Palermo seismic sequence (Mw = 5.9) represents the largest earthquake felt in the area in recent years. The deformation pattern characterizing …

INPROF – promoting teamwork processes and interprofessional collaboration in emergency work (2010–2012)

2015

This paper summarises the findings of a research project on interprofessional collaboration in the emergency unit of a major Finnish hospital. The findings are discussed through a broad conceptual framework which involves work process knowledge and interprofessional collaboration. The project, carried out from 2010–2012, investigated different forms of, prerequisites for, and barriers to, collaboration, and the aim was to develop the work together with staff at the unit. An ethnographically informed research strategy was utilised, with observations and interviews as the main data collection methods. On the whole, collaboration in the emergency unit was found to function rather well; i.e. pa…

Ligand engineering in Cu(ii) paddle wheel metal–organic frameworks for enhanced semiconductivity

2020

We report the electronic structure of two metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with copper paddle wheel nodes connected by a N2(C2H4)3 (DABCO) ligand with accessible nitrogen lone pairs. The coordination is predicted, from first-principles density functional theory, to enable electronic pathways that could facilitate charge carrier mobility. Calculated frontier crystal orbitals indicate extended electronic communication in DMOF-1, but not in MOF-649. This feature is confirmed by bandstructure calculations and effective masses of the valence band egde. We explain the origin of the frontier orbitals of both MOFs based on the energy and symmetry alignment of the underlying building blocks. The effe…

Ultrathin Films of 2D Hofmann-Type Coordination Polymers: Influence of Pillaring Linkers on Structural Flexibility and Vertical Charge Transport

2019

Searching for novel materials and controlling their nanostructuration into electronic devices is a challenging task ahead of chemists and chemical engineers. Even more so when this new application requires an exquisite control over the morphology, crystallinity, roughness and orientation of the films produced. In this context, it is of critical importance to analyze the influence of the chemical composition of perspective materials on their properties at the nanoscale. We report the fabrication of ultrathin films (thickness < 30 nm) of a family of FeII Hofmann-like coordination polymers by using an optimized liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) set-up. The series [Fe(L)2{Pt(CN)4}] (L = pyridine, pyri…

A homolog of the putative tumor suppressor QM in the sponge Suberites domuncula: downregulation during the transition from immortal to mortal (apopto…

1999

Abstract The activation of components of the transcription factors such as AP-1 or c-jun is essential for a physiological response of metazoan cells during aging. The activity of such proto-oncoproteins is under enzymatic control. The function of c-jun is additionally modulated by the QM protein. Here, we studied the expression of the gene, encoding the QM-like protein in the sponge Suberites domuncula . These animals contain high levels of telomerase in their somatic cells. To understand the switch from telomerase-positive immortal cells to telomerase-negative mortal cells which undergo apoptosis, the expression of the QM-like gene was measured in this system. The cDNA, termed QMSD , encod…

The MiCa proposal in the regular white paper on crypto-assets offerings seems to take into account the benefits and limitations of voluntary and mandatory disclosure systems not opting for either the former or the latter in full. On one hand one can agree with the regulatory approach aimed at adapting the content of the white paper to the type of token offered and at making the white paper either subject to mere notification or to the approval by the competent Authority depending on the asset offered. On the other hand doubts arise on the indistinct allocation of the burden of proof to the user in case of infringement of the relevant white paper framework.Settore IUS/04 - Diritto Commerciale

The article critically analyzes the Italian regulation of subcontracting in the context of public tenders as recently amended by several legislative measures in compliance with the infringement procedure launched by the European Commission against Italy. According to the Author’s view the current legislative framework – characterized by the almost overall elimination of the previous limits (probably even going beyond what the European Commission requested) – lacks in finding a fair balance between the principle of the maximum participation in the tender on the one hand and the need to prevent and reveal potential collusive conduct on the other. Furthermore this conclusion is supported by the analysis of the regulation of the causes of exclusion from the tender still too timid in envisaging the optional exclusion of the participants due to anticompetitive conduct.

La Seconda Vita dell'Ambiente Costruito

2021

The contribution frames the essays studies research and projects published in issue 9 of AGATHÓN on ‘The SecondLife of the Built Environment’ an interesting topic for universities businesses and industry. Climate changes excessive use of soil renewable resources ever-increasing production of waste the current pandemic emergency and the global socio-economic crisis have in fact entered our daily life. Even if these are tragic issues they can be somehow seized as an opportunity to rethink the way we live and our world. In this ‘revolutionary’ (Floridi 2020) and ‘polycrisis’ (Losasso 2020) context specifically referring to the building industry the Academy the Research and Industry worlds are called to give answers – based on sustainability and the principles of the Green Deal but also and mostly of the new Bauhaus – that can encourage reconsiderations and re-orientations of processes and products new projects on places buildings objects and materials able to positively affect the governance of the global change that our planet and humanity need able to give a ‘new life’ to the built and/or transformed environment at any scaleSettore ICAR/12 - Tecnologia Dell'Architettura
