Analysis of polymorphisms Leiden Factor V G1691A and prothrombin G20210A as risk factors for acute myocardial infarction.
2011
Thrombotic risk increases in elderly, therefore, the understanding of the genetic predisposition of hypercoagulability could make the difference in the prevention of venous and/or arterial thrombotic events. Laboratory evaluation of hyperfibrinogenemia, increased Factor VII levels, antiphospholipid antibodies presence and hyperhomocysteinemia are considered to have a consistent high predictivity for arterial thrombophilic diseases. Anyway, a large debate exists on the validity of testing Leiden Factor V (FV) G1691A and/or prothrombin (FII) G20210A polymorphisms in patients affected by arterial thrombotic diseases, despite of the several observations described. Here we report data strongly s…
Real structures on nilpotent orbit closures
2021
We determine the equivariant real structures on nilpotent orbits and the normalizations of their closures for the adjoint action of a complex semisimple algebraic group on its Lie algebra.
Counting and equidistribution in Heisenberg groups
2014
We strongly develop the relationship between complex hyperbolic geometry and arithmetic counting or equidistribution applications, that arises from the action of arithmetic groups on complex hyperbolic spaces, especially in dimension $2$. We prove a Mertens' formula for the integer points over a quadratic imaginary number fields $K$ in the light cone of Hermitian forms, as well as an equidistribution theorem of the set of rational points over $K$ in Heisenberg groups. We give a counting formula for the cubic points over $K$ in the complex projective plane whose Galois conjugates are orthogonal and isotropic for a given Hermitian form over $K$, and a counting and equidistribution result for …
Counting and equidistribution in quaternionic Heisenberg groups
2020
AbstractWe develop the relationship between quaternionic hyperbolic geometry and arithmetic counting or equidistribution applications, that arises from the action of arithmetic groups on quaternionic hyperbolic spaces, especially in dimension 2. We prove a Mertens counting formula for the rational points over a definite quaternion algebra A over ${\mathbb{Q}}$ in the light cone of quaternionic Hermitian forms, as well as a Neville equidistribution theorem of the set of rational points over A in quaternionic Heisenberg groups.
Rigidité, comptage et équidistribution de chaînes de Cartan quaternioniques
2020
We prove an analog of Cartan's theorem, saying that the chain-preserving transformations of the boundary of the quaternionic hyperbolic spaces are projective transformations.
Green Extraction of Polyphenols from Waste Bentonite to Produce Functional Antioxidant Excipients for Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Purposes: A Waste-t…
2022
In an ever-growing perspective of circular economy, the development of conscious, sustainable and environmental-friendly strategies to recycle the waste products is the key point. The scope of this work was to validate the waste bentonite from the grape processing industries as a precious matrix to extract polyphenols by applying a waste-to-market approach aimed at producing novel functional excipients. The waste bentonite was recovered after the fining process and opportunely pre-treated. Subsequently, both the freeze dried and the so-called “wet” bentonites were subjected to maceration. PEG200 and Propylene Glycol were selected as solvents due to their ability to dissolve poly…
G2019S Variation in LRRK2: An Ideal Model for the Study of Parkinson's Disease?
2019
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder and has plagued humans for more than 200 years. The etiology and detailed pathogenesis of PD is unclear, but is currently believed to be the result of the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. Studies have found that PD patients with the LRRK2:G2019S variation have the typical clinical manifestations of PD, which may be familial or sporadic, and have age-dependent pathogenic characteristics. Therefore, the LRRK2:G2019S variation may be an ideal model to study the interaction of multiple factors such as genetic, environmental and natural aging factors in PD in the future. This article reviewed the …
The New Life Of Exhausted Bentonite From The Grape Processing Industry: From Waste To Precious Resource To Produce Novel Raw Materials Enriched In Po…
Introduction: In an ever-growing perspective of circular economy, the development of conscious, sustainable and environmental-friendly strategies to recycle the waste products is the key point1. The exhausted bentonite, from the grape processing industries, could become a precious matrix to produce new pharmaceutical/cosmetic excipients enriched in functional polyphenols2. Materials & Methods: The exhausted bentonite recovered after the fining process (supplied by Bono&Ditta s.p.a., Campobello di Mazara TP, Italy) was stored at -20°C. Solid-liquid extractions on both freeze-dried and as-collected (wet) bentonite were carried out by using PEG200 or propylene glycol as solvents. The l…
(Table 1) Sea surface temperature reconstruction for eastern equatorial Pacific surface sediment samples
2012
Significant uncertainties persist in the reconstruction of past sea surface temperatures in the eastern equatorial Pacific, especially regarding the amplitude of the glacial cooling and the details of the post-glacial warming. Here we present the first regional calibration of alkenone unsaturation in surface sediments versus mean annual sea surface temperatures (maSST). Based on 81 new and 48 previously published data points, it is shown that open ocean samples conform to established global regressions of Uk'37 versus maSST and that there is no systematic bias from seasonality in the production or export of alkenones, or from surface ocean nutrient concentrations or salinity. The flattening…
