On general conditional prevision assessments

2009

In this paper we consider general conditional random quantities of the kind $X|Y$, where $X$ and $Y$ are finite discrete random quantities. Then, we introduce the notion of coherence for conditional prevision assessments on finite families of general conditional random quantities. Moreover, we give a compound prevision theorem and we examine the relation between the previsions of $X|Y$ and $Y|X$. Then, we give some results on random gains and, by a suitable alternative theorem, we obtain a characterization of coherence. We also propose an algorithm for the checking of coherence. Finally, we briefly examine the case of imprecise conditional prevision assessments by introducing the notions of…

Known by many names – platform, sharing, peer-to-peer (p2p), collaborative economy, and so on-entirely new business models have emerged in recent years, whereby online platforms use digital technologies to connect distinct groups of users in order to facilitate transactions for the exchange of assets and services. This dramatic shift in business organisation and market structure has opened an intense debate on the persisting need for those regulatory measures that typically protect the weaker party in bilateral business-to-consumer transactions. Widespread calls for a more " levelled playing field " makes a strong argument for reconsidering the scope of regulation and delegating regulatory …

Search, Nash bargaining and rule-of-thumb consumers

2011

Abstract This paper analyses the effects of introducing two typical Keynesian features, namely rule-of-thumb (RoT) consumers and consumption habits, into a standard labour market search model. RoT consumers use the margin that hours and wage negotiation provides them to improve their lifetime utility, by narrowing the gap in utility with respect to Ricardian consumers. This margin for intertemporal optimisation has not been studied yet, because this class of restricted agents has been mainly used in models with no equilibrium unemployment. Our approach allows for a deeper study of the effects of shocks on vacancies, unemployment, hours, wages and how they interact. As habits increase, RoT c…

LA CONTRATTAZIONE COLLETTIVA NEGLI STATI UNITI DAL WAGNER ACT AI NOSTRI GIORNI

2016

Robust l2-gain control for 2D nonlinear stochastic systems with time-varying delays and actuator saturation

2013

Abstract This paper is concerned with the problems of stability analysis and l2-gain control for a class of two-dimensional (2D) nonlinear stochastic systems with time-varying delays and actuator saturation. Firstly, a convex hull representation is used to describe the saturation behavior, and a sufficient condition for the existence of mean-square exponential stability of the considered system is derived. Then, a state feedback controller which guarantees the resulting closed-loop system to be mean-square exponentially stable with l2-gain performance is proposed, and an optimization procedure to maximize the estimation of domain of attraction is also given. All the obtained results are for…

Stabilization and lx -gain analysis of switched positive systems with actuator saturation

2014

This paper is concerned with the problems of stability and l 1 -gain analysis for a class of switched positive systems with time-varying delays and actuator saturation. Firstly, a convex hull representation is used to describe the saturation behavior. By constructing a multiple co-positive Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions are provided for the closed-loop system to be locally asymptotically stable at the origin of the state space under arbitrary switching. Then, the l 1 -gain performance analysis in the presence of actuator saturation is developed. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Effect of Six-Month Diet Intervention on Sleep among Overweight and Obese Men with Chronic Insomnia Symptoms : A Randomized Controlled Trial

2016

Growing evidence suggests that diet alteration affects sleep, but this has not yet been studied in adults with insomnia symptoms. We aimed to determine the effect of a six-month diet intervention on sleep among overweight and obese (Body mass index, BMI >= 25 kg/m(2)) men with chronic insomnia symptoms. Forty-nine men aged 30-65 years with chronic insomnia symptoms were randomized into diet (n = 28) or control (n = 21) groups. The diet group underwent a six-month individualized diet intervention with three face-to-face counseling sessions and online supervision 1-3 times per week; 300-500 kcal/day less energy intake and optimized nutrient composition were recommended. Controls were instruct…

CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW. STUDY ON THE EMERGENCE OF A LEGAL ORDER

2009

According to a prevailing view, the law of international criminal jurisdictions constitutes a branch of public international law. However, despite a strong institutional anchoring to public international law, this area of law, which is referred to as international criminal law for the purposes of this study, seems to go beyond the framework of public international law. Unprecedented solutions are being developed by international criminal courts to deal with situations referred to them. The international criminal judge plays a key role in this mechanism of overcoming public international law. The emergence of mass terrorism coupled with the trivialization of internal armed conflicts undermin…
