mRNA homoeostasis is favoured by crosstalk between transcription and degradation machineries. Both the Ccr4-Not and the Xrn1-decaysome complexes have been described to influence transcription. While Ccr4-Not has been shown to directly stimulate transcription elongation, the information available on how Xrn1 influences transcription is scarce and contradictory. In this study we have addressed this issue by mapping RNA polymerase II (RNA pol II) at high resolution, using CRAC and BioGRO-seq techniques in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Archaeological surveys by test trenching and two preventive excavations of the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (Inrap) in 2001 and 2008 preceding the construction of a housing area in Rurange-lès-Thionville (Lorraine, Moselle) allowed documenting and investigating a Gallo-Roman farmstead of modest size. This farmstead, covering a total surface of more than 7000 m², was composed of different buildings typical for a Gallo-Roman agricultural exploitation. The transition of blastospores to the mycelial phase in Candida albicans was induced after the blastospores were kept at 4°C for several hours and then transferred to a fresh medium prewarmed at 37°C. Glucan was the most abundant polymer in the wall in the two morphogenetic forms but the amount of chitin was higher in the mycelial form than in blastospores. Efficient protoplasting required reducing agents and proteases together with β-glucanases (zymolyase). Protein synthesis in regenerating protoplasts was initiated after about 30 min. We present the clinical and follow-up data of a female infant with Perlman syndrome from birth to the age of 9 years. Main features of Perlman syndrome include polyhydramnios, fetal overgrowth, neonatal macrosomia, macrocephaly, dysmorphic facial features, visceromegaly, nephroblastomatosis, and a predisposition for Wilm's tumor. In our patient, the nephromegaly with nephroblastomatosis was not present at birth or during the neonatal period; it became evident in the first months of postnatal life. Il saggio presenta una riflessione su come accostarsi analiticamente ai madrigali di Carlo Gesualdo da Vemosa. Nella prima parte del saggio è presentata una rassegna critica dei contributi più significativi all'analisi gesualdina, comparsi nel Novecento. Nella seconda parte viene discussa l'analisi di madrigali gesualdiani condotta da Padre Giambattista Martini nel suo "Esemplare" (1774-1775), e ne vengono evidenziati gli aspetti che si rivelano ancora utili all'approccio analitico contemporaneo.
