Control of N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalyzed Reactions of Enals: Asymmetric Synthesis of Oxindole-γ-Amino Acid Derivatives.

A strategy to control the switch between a non‐cycloaddition reaction and a cycloaddition reaction of enals, using N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalyisis, has been developed. The new scalable protocol leads to γ‐amino‐acid esters bearing a tetrasubstituted stereocenter in good yields and high stereoselectivities by homo‐Mannich reactions of enals and isatin‐derived ketimines. By simply changing the N‐ketimine substituent to an ortho‐hydroxy phenyl group, the corresponding spirocyclic oxindolo‐γ‐lactams are obtained. peerReviewed

Tämä tutkimus keskittyi tutkimaan tagien käyttöä muutamassa tagipalveluihin erikoistuneessa sosiaalisessa verkkosivustossa. Tutkimuksen aikana huomattiin, että tageja hyödynnetään hyvin monipuolisesti näissä sivustoissa osana käyttäjälle tarjottavaa palvelukokonaisuutta: tärkeimpinä palveluina tarjottiin palveluun lisättävien objektien tagaamisen lisäksi tagisuosituksia, tagihakuja ja sosiaalista verkkotoimintaa palvelun käyttäjien kesken. Mining industry is expanding in Finland and it is expected to become a forerunner in taking environmental issues into account in its processes. Mines often lower the water quality of their surrounding waters and this may lead to salinization and eutrophication for instance. Salinization may be due to dissolved ions in the wastewater, like sulphate and sodium, and may cause the artificial stratification of a lake. Sulphate can also prevent the natural circulation of iron in the sediments, which favors the release of phosphorus and could lead to eutrophication. Natural optical anisotropy of h-BN: Highest giant birefringence in a bulk crystal through the mid-infrared to ultraviolet range

The giant birefringence of layered h-BN was demonstrated by analyzing the interference patterns in reflectance and transmittance measurements in the mid-infrared to the deep ultraviolet energy range. The refractive index for polarization perpendicular to the c axis is much higher than the refractive index for polarization parallel to the c axis, and it displays a strong increase in the ultraviolet range that is attributed to the huge excitonic effects arising from the unique electronic structure of h-BN.
