Analysis of the Aggregate Financial Behaviour of Customers Using the Transtheoretical Model of Change

2014

Abstract The authors addressed the problem of aggregate financial behaviour of customers by using the transtheoretical model of change. Aggregate financial behaviour of customers was studied by analyzing payment cards, private pension savings and mortgage loans. The transheoretical model of change was chosen as a theoretical framework for the analysis. Conclusions are based on results of regression analysis of empirical evidence of customers’ financial behaviour relation to the given products during the time period 2001-2013 in Latvia and further logical inferences by authors, which are consistent with the chosen theoretical framework of the transtheoretical model of change

Resource-efficient hardware implementation of a neural-based node for automatic fingerprint classification

2017

Modern mobile communication networks and Internet of Things are paving the way to ubiquitous and mobile computing. On the other hand, several new computing paradigms, such as edge computing, demand for high computational capabilities on specific network nodes. Ubiquitous environments require a large number of distributed user identification nodes enabling a secure platform for resources, services and information management. Biometric systems represent a useful option to the typical identification systems. An accurate automatic fingerprint classification module provides a valuable indexing scheme that allows for effective matching in large fingerprint databases. In this work, an efficient em…

On irreducible products of characters

2021

Abstract We study the problem when the product of two non-linear Galois conjugate characters of a finite group is irreducible. We also prove new results on irreducible tensor products of cross-characteristic Brauer characters of quasisimple groups of Lie type.

Improvement of Fingerprint Sensor Reading Using FPGA Devices

2008

In order to realize fingerprint recognition system in real time environment, we describe in this paper signal controller to read fingerprint sensor generated in FPGA devices. Basically this signal is generated using state machine. The simulation result for behavioral simulation and signal generation read by logic analyzer are presented in this paper. Initialization and reading time for 76800 pixels are 50.99 mS. It is faster than fingerprint sensor using USB connection, which is more than 250 ms.

Development and validation of a 5 stroke engine for range extenders application

2014

International audience; A 5-stroke turbo-charged port-injection spark-ignition engine has been developed in the present study for use as a range extender or series-hybrid main power source. The development and the design of the engine are based on 0D/1D model and experimental results have been compared with the engine model. The 5-stroke engine is a three-cylinder in which two cylinders perform a four-stroke cycle and alternatively a second expansion of the burnt gases is performed in the third cylinder. The boost pressure delivered by the turbocharger is controlled by a particular innovative system called “smart wastegate”, different from a conventional wastegate, consisting in a variable …

Heavy ion SEE studies on 4-Gbit NAND-Flash memories

2007

Heavy ion SEE studies on three 4-Gbit NAND-flash memory types were performed at the RADEF facility at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland with particular emphasis on SEFI differentiation. An error classification for complex memory devices is introduced, and respective cross sections are reported.

Cryogenic nanoelectromechanical switch enabled by Bi2Se3 nanoribbons

2022

Abstract Nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switches are potential candidates for memory and logic devices for low standby-current and harsh environment applications. Cryogenic operation of these devices would allow to use them, e.g., in space probes and in conjunction with quantum computers. Herein, it is demonstrated that cryogenic application requirements such as good flexibility and conductivity are satisfied by using Bi2Se3 nanoribbons as active elements in NEM switches. Experimental proof of principle NEM switching at temperatures as low as 5 K is achieved in volatile and non-volatile reversible regimes, exhibiting distinct ON and OFF states, backed by theoretical modelling. The results open…

Local Effects of Longitudinal Heat Conduction in Plate Heat Exchangers

2007

Abstract In a plate heat exchanger, heat transfer from the hot to the cold fluid is a multi-dimensional conjugate problem, in which longitudinal heat conduction (LHC) along the dividing walls often plays some role and can not be neglected. Large-scale , or end-to-end, LHC is always detrimental to the exchanger’s effectiveness. On the contrary, if significant non-uniformities exist in the distribution of either convective heat transfer coefficient, small-scale , or local, LHC may actually enhance the exchanger’s performance by improving the thermal coupling between high heat transfer spots located on the opposite sides of the dividing wall.
