Infrastructures and Productivity in the Spanish Regions

The aim of this paper is to analyse the role of public capital, the types of infrastructures in which it is invested, and their territorial distribution in the gains in productivity of the private sector in the Spanish regions in the period 1964-1991 using panel data techniques to control for unobserved state-specific characteristics. The results obtained show how the infrastructures most directly linked to the productive process present a significant and positive effect on productivity. This paper considers the measurement of infrastructure capital in the Spanish regions and examines the regional disparities found. The relationship between income and infrastructure is studied in order to determine the impact of public capital in accounting for regional disparities in incomes. The aim of this paper is to assess the role of people's perception in disaster management. It is based on a study carried out along the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. People living in the study area have experienced a number of landslides, but the landslide in 2010 had the most far-reaching effects on community livelihoods and resulted in a major setback to development efforts in the area. Experiences of landslides have enabled the local people to develop a number of interpretations of the causes and effects of the phenomena. Understanding flow experience from users’ requirements

This paper argues that the concept of flow can be useful in gaining a better understanding of information system users’ flow experience. This paper applies this concept in the requirements development phase of an Internet protocol television e-learning service development project. The findings show that flow experience can be visualised and measured, and that there are differences in how users see and perceive different features. Some features are driven by more experiential needs, whereas others are driven by more task-oriented goals. Las condiciones del mercado de trabajo en las áreas rurales han convertido el autoempleo en una de las opciones recurrentes entre las mujeres que tratan de iniciar una actividad o consolidar su económica. Mediante técnicas cualitativas y a partir de un caso de estudio en un área LEADER española (Sierra del Segura, Albacete), este trabajo investiga las redes locales de apoyo al autoempleo femenino en zonas rurales, así como el impacto de la crisis económica sobre dicho sistema de apoyos.
