Design criteria of tubular linear induction motors and generators: A prototype realization and its characterization

In this paper a mathematical model of tubular linear induction machines (TLIM) with hollowed induced part is recalled. Moreover the design criteria of a TLIM with hollowed iron induced part are presented as well as the technological processes to be adopted and the choice of materials to construct the various parts. The methodologies for mechanical assembling and electric wiring are considered too. A prototype with bimetallic induced part has been designed and built. Finally some experimental results on electrical and mechanical variables, when the machines are used as motors, are shown.

It has been observed that different IEEE 802.11 commercial cards produced by different vendors experience different performance, either when accessing alone the channel, as well as when competing against each other. These differences persist also when thorough measurement methodologies (such as RF shielding, laptop rotation, etc) are applied, and alignment of the environmental factors (same laptop models, traffic generators, etc) is carried out. This paper provides an extensive experimental characterization of the backoff operation of six commercial NIC cards. Permanent Magnet Linear Generators (PMLGs) are currently being studied for sea wave energy harvesting. Typically, a PMLG consists of an iron-made armature and a moving translator. The permanent magnets adoption produces parasitic effects, such as cogging force, and the machine weight increment. A solution could be the adoption of an ironless configuration, accepting a power density reduction. Study on the Effects of Pseudorandom Generation Quality on the Performance of Differential Evolution

Experiences in the field of Monte Carlo methods indicate that the quality of a random number generator is exceedingly significant for obtaining good results. This result has not been demonstrated in the field of evolutionary optimization, and many practitioners of the field assume that the choice of the generator is superfluous and fail to document this aspect of their algorithm. In this paper, we demonstrate empirically that the requirement of high quality generator does not hold in the case of Differential Evolution.
The use of sea waves for generation of electrical energy: a linear tubular asynchronous electrical generator

A linear tubular asynchronous generator to be used as generator driven by seawave is presented. The design criteria of a TLIM with hollowed iron induced part as well as the technological processes to be adopted and the materials utilized in the various parts are described. The methodologies for mechanical assembling and electric wiring are considered too. Linear permanent magnet generators are widely considered for the direct conversion of energy contained in sea waves [1-3]. Both planar and tubular structures have been proposed [4-6] and all these structures present several advantages: relative high efficiency, simplicity of the structures, high sturdiness. The aims of this study were to compare coordination and coordination variability in backward and forward running and to investigate the effects of speed on coordination variability in both backward and forward running. Fifteen healthy male participants took part in this study to run forwards and backwards on a treadmill at 80%, 100% and 120% of their preferred running speeds. The coordinate data of passive reflective markers attached to body segments were recorded using motion capture systems. Results are presented of a search for supersymmetric particles decaying into final states with significant missing transverse momentum and exactly two identical flavour leptons (e or mu) of opposite charge in sqrt{s}=7 TeV collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. This channel is particularly sensitive to supersymmetric particle cascade decays producing flavour correlated lepton pairs. Flavour uncorrelated backgrounds are subtracted using a sample of opposite flavour lepton pair events. Observation of an excess beyond Standard Model expectations following this subtraction procedure would offer one of the best routes to measuring the masses of supersymmetric particles. In models of anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB), the lightest chargino is predicted to have a lifetime long enough to be detected in collider experiments. This letter explores AMSB scenarios in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV by attempting to identify decaying charginos which result in tracks that appear to have few associated hits in the outer region of the tracking system. The search was based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.02 fb[superscript −1] collected with the ATLAS detector in 2011.
