Enhancement and assessment of WKS variance parameter for intelligent 3D shape recognition and matching based on MPSO

This paper presents an improved wave kernel signature (WKS) using the modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO)-based intelligent recognition and matching on 3D shapes. We select the first feature vector from WKS, which represents the 3D shape over the first energy scale. The choice of this vector is to reinforce robustness against non-rigid 3D shapes. Furthermore, an optimized WKS-based method for extracting key-points from objects is introduced. Assessing habitat connectivity of the lesser horseshoe bat using graph theory to explain its distribution

The lesser horseshoe bat, Rhinolophus hipposideros was formerly widespread and quite common in north-western Europe, but has undergone a dramatic decline from the 1960s. The main hypothesis for this decline is a change of habitat quality. Recent works have stressed the importance of good connection between roosts and foraging areas by tree lines and well-structured hedgerows. Orientation Adaptive Minimal Learning Machine for Directions of Atomic Forces

Machine learning (ML) force fields are one of the most common applications of ML in nanoscience. However, commonly these methods are trained on potential energies of atomic systems and force vectors are omitted. Here we present a ML framework, which tackles the greatest difficulty on using forces in ML: accurate prediction of force direction. We use the idea of Minimal Learning Machine to device a method which can adapt to the orientation of an atomic environment to estimate the directions of force vectors. Summary A (di)graph without parallel edges can simply be represented by a binary relation of the vertices and on the other hand, any binary relation can be expressed as such a graph. In this article, this correspondence is formalized in the Mizar system [2], based on the formalization of graphs in [6] and relations in [11], [12]. Notably, a new definition of createGraph will be given, taking only a non empty set V and a binary relation E ⊆ V × V to create a (di)graph without parallel edges, which will provide to be very useful in future articles.

Differentiation of the Disease Caused by Aphanomyces cochlioides and Girth Scab on Sugar Beet Roots – a Review

Severe symptoms of root rot on sugar beet have been observed in Poland and Germany since 2001. The symptom classification suggested girth scab as it was mistakenly classified on the basis of current classification, e.g. in LIZ. However, the cause of the disease was Aphanomyces cochlioides infection, not Streptomyces spp. According to these findings we cannot call the symptoms caused by A. cochlioides as ‘girth scab’. The typical scab (girth scab) symptoms can be promoted by A. cochlioides infections. In many cases, A. cochlioides developed at the beginning of the season, during the seedling stage.
