Endohedral Mixed Aggregates: Sodium Alkoxide Cages with Organic or Inorganic Central Anions and Variable Hull.
2021
Abstract Alkali metal alkoxides are widely used in chemistry due to their Brønsted basic and nucleophilic properties. Potassium alkoxides assist alkyllithium in the metalation of hydrocarbons in Lochmann‐Schlosser‐bases. Both compounds form mixed aggregates, which enhance the thermal stability, solubility, and the basic reactivity of these mixtures. A very unusual spherical mixed alkoxy aggregate was discovered by Grützmacher et al., where a central dihydrogen phosphide anion is surrounded by a highly dynamic shell of thirteen sodium atoms and a hull of twelve tert‐butoxide groups. This structural motif can be reproduced by a reaction of trimethylsilyl compounds of methane, halogens, or pse…
Halogen activation in the plume of Masaya volcano: field observations and box model investigations
2020
Volcanic emissions are a source of halogens in the atmosphere. Rapid reactions convert the initially emitted hydrogen halides (HCl, HBr, and HI) into reactive species such as BrO, Br2, BrCl, ClO, OClO, and IO. The activation reaction mechanisms in the plume consume ozone (O3), which is entrained by ambient air that is mixed into the plume. In this study, we present observations of the oxidation of bromine, chlorine, and iodine during the first 11 min following emission, examining the plume from Santiago crater of the Masaya volcano in Nicaragua. Two field campaigns were conducted: one in July 2016 and one in September 2016. The sum of the reactive species of each halogen was determined by g…
An extensive pattern of atypical neural speech-sound discrimination in newborns at risk of dyslexia.
2019
Objective: Identifying early signs of developmental dyslexia, associated with deficient speech-sound processing, is paramount to establish early interventions. We aimed to find early speech-sound processing deficiencies in dyslexia, expecting diminished and atypically lateralized event-related potentials (ERP) and mismatch responses (MMR) in newborns at dyslexia risk. Methods: ERPs were recorded to a pseudoword and its variants (vowel-duration, vowel-identity, and syllable-frequency changes) from 88 newborns at high or no familial risk. The response significance was tested, and group, laterality, and frontality effects were assessed with repeated-measures ANOVA. Results: An early positive a…
Pharmacological activation of CB2 receptors counteracts the deleterious effect of ethanol on cell proliferation in the main neurogenic zones of the a…
2015
Chronic alcohol exposure reduces endocannabinoid activity and disrupts adult neurogenesis in rodents, which results in structural and functional alterations. Cannabinoid receptor agonists promote adult neural progenitor cell (NPC) proliferation. We evaluated the protective effects of the selective CB1 receptor agonist ACEA, the selective CB2 receptor agonist JWH133 and the fatty-acid amide-hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitor URB597, which enhances endocannabinoid receptor activity, on NPC proliferation in rats with forced consumption of ethanol (10%) or sucrose liquid diets for 2 weeks. We performed immunohistochemical and stereological analyses of cells expressing the mitotic phosphorylation of his…
V2O5 nanowires with an intrinsic peroxidase-like activity
2010
V2O5 nanowires exhibit an intrinsic catalytic activity towards classical peroxidase substrates such as 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 3,3,5,5,-tetramethylbenzdine (TMB) in the presence of H2O2. These V2O5 nanowires show an optimum reactivity at a pH of 4.0 and the catalytic activity is dependent on the concentration. The Michaelis-Menten kinetics of the ABTS oxidation over these nanowires reveals a behavior similar to that of their natural vanadium-dependent haloperoxidase (V-HPO) counterparts. The V2O5 nanowires mediate the oxidation of ABTS in the presence of H2O2 with a turnover frequency (k(cat)) of 2.5 x 10(3) s(-1). The K-M values of the V2O5 nanowire…
'I love Rock 'n' Roll'--music genre preference modulates brain responses to music.
2013
The present study examined the effect of participants' music genre preference on the neural processes underlying evaluative and cognitive judgements of music using the event-related potential technique. To this aim, two participant groups differing in their preference for Latin American and Heavy Metal music performed a liking judgement and a genre classification task on a variety of excerpts of either music genre. A late positive potential (LPP) was elicited in all conditions between 600 and 900 ms after stimulus onset. During the genre classification task, an early negativity was elicited by the preferred compared to the non-preferred music at around 230-370 ms whereas the non-preferred g…

Les compléments neurophysiologiques du diagnostic
2009
Electronic structure of phthalocyanines : Theoretical investigation of the optical properties of phthalocyanine monomers, dimers, and crystals
1990
We present valence effective Hamiltonian (VEH) calculations on the optical absorptions of a series of phthalocyanine compounds: the metal‐free phthalocyanine molecule, a model system for the lithium phthalocyanine molecule, the metal‐free phthalocyanine dimer, and model systems for the lutetium diphthalocyanine and the lithium phthalocyanine crystal. For these compounds, it is found that the major factor influencing the evolution of the optical transitions is not the electronic structure of the metal but rather the geometric structure: phthalocyanine intraring geometry and, in the dimers and crystals, interring separation and staggering angle. The origin of the so‐called Soret or B absorpti…
Molecular balance forms of indium phthalocyanines in benzene and pyridine solution
2019
Abstract The electronic absorption spectra of In2Pc3, InPc2 and InPcI solid compounds after dissolvation in one of the most commonly used solvents, i.e.: benzene and pyridine have been measured. In benzene, the molecules of the diindium tripledecker phthalocyanine, In2Pc3, undergoes transformation to ionic couples [InPc]+[InPc2]-, whereas when the InPc2 compound is dissolvated, the molecules of the indium sandwiches, InPc2, remain relatively stable in the solvent. When the In2Pc3 compound is dissolvated in py, the inner Pc(2-) ring of diindium tripledecker phthalocyanine molecule undergoes disjunction and rejection. In the results of it in the solution the couple of chromophores, being in t…
