Employers’ Needs and Expectations for Qualified Employees (Case Study on the Opinions in One of the Regions in Latvia)

Abstract Qualified, loyal and motivated employees are highly demanded by employers and business promoters. The paper deals with employers’ needs and expectations for qualified and loyal employees, and investigates cooperation of employers, educators and municipalities. The following methods were used: analysis of scientific publications; focus group discussions; surveys of employers, teaching staff, students and graduates of VEI. An Analysis of the Residential Segregation of Foreigners in the Municipality of Palermo

Ethnic residential segregation in Italy is emerging as a key question, which will be crucial in the definition and implementation of both urban and social policies. This chapter focuses on this phenomenon in the Italian Metropolitan Area of Palermo. We use individual data for all the population residing in the city on 31 December 2011, organised by ethnicity and neighbourhood to describe the spatial distribution and the residential segregation of foreigners in the city, applying many different segregation measures. El objetivo del presente trabajo es identificar los factores contextuales que potencialmente influyen o están implicados en la elección y eficiencia del sistema de información interno. La investigación planteada obedece a un estudio explicativo. Se centra en un solo sector económico, debido a que permite acotar los efectos derivados de las condiciones de mercado, del ciclo económico y de la tecnología de producción. El sector elegido ha sido el hotelero. Se concluye que el rendimiento de una organización depende del acoplamiento entre la estrategia, la estructura y el sistema de información interno implantado en la organización.
Parvovīrusu genoma secību noteikšana indivīdiem ar encefalopātiju

Latvijā B19V, HBoV un hPARV4 ir maz pētīti. Citur pasaulē ir atsevišķi ziņojumi, kas saista parvovīrusus B19V, HBoV, hPARV4 ar encefalopātiju, tomēr precīzi mehānismi, kā šie vīrusi iesaistās slimības etioloģijā, nav zināmi. Parvovīrusi pieder pie plašas mazu vīrusu dzimtas Parvoviridae. Tiem ir vienpavediena DNS, genoms ir aptuveni 5-6 kilobāžu garš. Vīrusam nav ārējais apvalks, bet gan vīrusa kapsīds. Šī darba mērķis bija pētīt parvovīrusu B19V, HBoV un hPARV4 iespējamo iesaisti neprecizētas encefalopātijas patoģenēzē. Community intervention in the “613 houses district” in Burjassot (Valencia) cannot be understood without the Escoles Esportives 613 Vivendes association. This association was set up in 1994 through the endeavours of social agents existing at the time in the district: 613 Housing Neighbourhood Association, the Manantial Association for Human and Cultural Promotion, and Burjassot’s basic team of municipal Social Services, as well as a group of young people who thought that one way to ensure the promotion of children in underprivileged neighbourhoods was through practising sports.

Während der Verlauf und die Ursachen des Geburtenverhaltens intensiv erforscht wurden, sind die finanziellen Folgen einer Geburt empirisch kaum beachtet worden. Daher werden hier kurzfristige Wohlstandsveränderungen von Familien (hinsichtlich verfügbarem Haushaltseinkommen und Äquivalenzeinkommen) rund um die Geburt eines Kindes in längsschnittlicher Perspektive analysiert und auf ihre Ursachen untersucht. Zu diesem Zweck wurden die Daten des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (1984-2005) mittels Fixed-Effekt-Panelregressionsmodellen analysiert. The underlining assumption of this paper is that developing countries are in a fragile state nowadays. Economically, they have been seriously harmed by the 2008 crisis1 but this is not the end of the story: the future still has pitfalls in which these economies might get trapped, due to their enhanced vulnerability to exogenous shocks generated by financial globalization. Ideologically, the recent events have triggered a serious backlash against capitalism, particularly the Anglo-Saxon template.
