Production of light nuclei and anti-nuclei in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

2016

The production of (anti-)deuteron and (anti-) 3 He nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV has been studied using the ALICE detector at the LHC. The spectra exhibit a significant hardening with increasing centrality. Combined blast-wave fits of several particles support the interpretation that this behavior is caused by an increase of radial flow. The integrated particle yields are discussed in the context of coalescence and thermal-statistical model expectations. The particle ratios, 3 He /d and 3 He /p, in Pb-Pb collisions are found to be in agreement with a common chemical freeze-out temperature of Tchem ≈ 156 MeV. These ratios do not vary with centrality which is in agreement with…

The editorial function of the territorial intelligence systems

2006

This communication makes an updating of our thinking about the editorial function of the systems of territorial intelligence. Computer science and information systems aim at increasing the communication between the human beings. A territorial intelligence system is an instrument at the service of the actors who ambition to control the development the equitable and sustainable development of their territory. Since the irruption of data processing, we led research activities to design friendly software, then to model the structure of a territorial information system that is at the service of a network of territorial actors, and more recently to integrate the data analysis functions. They led …

A Contribution to the analysis of the first Spanish public-private partnership in primary and specialized maternity care: a social network analysis a…

2021

The La Ribera University Hospital (Alzira, Valencia) was the first experience of public-private partnership in the Spanish National Health System. In addition to the need to coordinate two levels of health care (primary/specialised), two models of human resource management (public/private) had to be coordinated. To illustrate this complexity, the group of midwives in the health area has been taken, analysing their relational patterns through the methodological approach of Social Network Analysis. In terms of results, out of a population of 31 midwives, those of the public model occupy peripheral positions and cooperate poorly, both internally and externally. However, those of the private mo…

Measurement of top-quark polarisation observables and a search for dark matter in single-top-quark production with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

2022

Comparing motivational, self-regulatory and habitual processes in a computer-tailored physical activity intervention in hospital employees - protocol…

2017

Abstract Background Most people do not engage in sufficient physical activity to confer health benefits and to reduce risk of chronic disease. Healthcare professionals frequently provide guidance on physical activity, but often do not meet guideline levels of physical activity themselves. The main objective of this study is to develop and test the efficacy of a tailored intervention to increase healthcare professionals’ physical activity participation and quality of life, and to reduce work-related stress and absenteeism. This is the first study to compare the additive effects of three forms of a tailored intervention using different techniques from behavioural theory, which differ accordin…

Impact of antigen presentation on TCR modulation and cytokine release: implications for detection and sorting of antigen-specific CD8+ T cells using …

2002

Abstract Soluble MHC class I molecules loaded with antigenic peptides are available either to detect and to enumerate or, alternatively, to sort and expand MHC class I-restricted and peptide-reactive T cells. A defined number of MHC class I/peptide complexes can now be implemented to measure T cell responses induced upon Ag-specific stimulation, including CD3/CD8/ζ-chain down-regulation, pattern, and quantity of cytokine secretion. As a paradigm, we analyzed the reactivity of a Melan-A/MART-1-specific and HLA-A2-restricted CD8+ T cell clone to either soluble or solid-phase presented peptides, including the naturally processed and presented Melan-A/MART-1 peptide AAGIGILTV or the peptide ana…

Association between physical, psychological and social frailty and health-related quality of life among older people

2019

Abstract Background Studies on the association between frailty and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) are scarce and show contradictory results. This study aimed to evaluate the association between physical, psychological and social frailty and HRQoL among community-dwelling older people. Methods A cross-sectional study was performed with baseline data collected in 2015 from the Urban Health Centers Europe (UHCE) project in five European countries, the United Kingdom, Greece, Croatia, The Netherlands and Spain. A total of 2325 participants were included in the baseline measurements of the Urban Health Centers Europe project; 2167 participants (mean age = 79.7; SD=5.6) were included in t…

Adequate Urinary Iodine Concentration among Infants in the Inland Area of Norway

2021

Considering the importance of iodine to support optimal growth and neurological development of the brain and central nervous system, this study aimed to assess and evaluate iodine status in Norwegian infants. We collected data on dietary intake of iodine, iodine knowledge in mothers, and assessed iodine concentration in mother’s breast milk and in infant’s urine in a cross-sectional study at two public healthcare clinics in the inland area of Norway. In the 130 mother–infant pairs, the estimated infant 24-h median iodine intake was 50 (IQR 31, 78) µg/day. The median infant urinary iodine concentration (UIC) was 146 (IQR 93, 250) µg/L and within the recommended median defined by the World He…
