The aim of this article is to introduce an ecosystemic approach to mentoring, inspired by the theory of ecologies of practices (Kemmis, Edwards-Groves, Wilkinson, & Hardy, 2012). It is suggested that relationships between practices and their environment resemble in many ways the relationships between natural organisms and ecosystems. The Role of Teacher Closeness in Emotions and Achievement for Adolescents With and Without Learning Difficulties

Student–teacher relationships are crucial for adolescents’ adjustment in the school context. The aim of the present study was to examine the role of teacher closeness in academic emotions and achievement among adolescents with and without learning difficulties during the first year in lower secondary school. Students’ learning difficulties (LDs) were identified based on tested reading and math skills. In addition, students evaluated their teacher relationships and rated academic emotions in literacy and math domains. Teacher beliefs about student agency in whole-class playing

This study explores music teachers’ beliefs of student agency in whole-class playing and investigates what characterises student agency through teachers’ values, actions and observations within this unique multimodal and -dimensional learning environment. Our abductive analysis of 11 interviews reveals that the role of teacher support is significant in enacting students’ agency. This study provides insights into student agency through the eyes and actions of teachers within the context of whole-class playing and suggests that the enactment of different aspects of student agency is an essential feature necessary for whole-class playing to succeed. peerReviewed

Radioluminescence Response of Ce-, Cu-, and Gd-Doped Silica Glasses for Dosimetry of Pulsed Electron Beams

Radiation-induced emission of doped sol-gel silica glass samples was investigated under a pulsed 20-MeV electron beam. The studied samples were drawn rods doped with cerium, copper, or gadolinium ions, which were connected to multimode pure-silica core fibers to transport the induced luminescence from the irradiation area to a signal readout system. The luminescence pulses in the samples induced by the electron bunches were studied as a function of deposited dose per electron bunch. All the investigated samples were found to have a linear response in terms of luminescence as a function of electron bunch sizes between 10−5 Gy/bunch and 1.5×10−2 Gy/bunch. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelemme Kelan työllistymistä edistävän ammatillisen kuntoutuksen osapuolten kuvauksia suomalaisesta työelämästä. Keskitymme erityisesti työelämään liittyvien myönteisten näköalojen ja niissä esiintyvän optimismin analysointiin. Toivo ja optimismi ovat aiemmissa tutkimuksissa osoittautuneet merkityksellisiksi tekijöiksi työhön paluun prosesseissa. Aineiston muodostivat kuntoutujien, omaohjaajien ja työnantajien haastattelut (47 kappaletta). Kuntoutuksen kaikkien osapuolten puheesta tunnistettiin myönteisiä näköaloja ja erilaisia optimismin muotoja. Fluorine-containing functionalized cyclopentene scaffolds through ring contraction and deoxofluorination of various substituted cyclohexenes

The fluorination of some highly‐functionalized cyclopentene derivatives, obtained from various substituted cyclohexenes through a ring‐opening/ring‐contraction procedure, has been investigated. The transformations were found to be highly substrate dependent, and led to the formation of various functionalized alicyclic compounds or heterocycles containing allyl difluoride or vinyl fluoride moieties. peerReviewed

The field of molecular magnetism studies the magnetic properties of molecular systems as opposed to conventional metal-based magnets. The high chemical modifiability of the constituting molecules makes such materials highly versatile, and the small size of the building blocks leads to the rise of various quantum mechanical phenomena, such as tunneling and entanglement. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin eettisen organisaatiokulttuurin vaikutuksia ihmisten välisiin suhteisiin: organisaatiotasolla luottamukseen ja kahdenvälisellä tasolla esimies- alaissuhteen laatuun. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin esimies-alaissuhteen laadun vaikutusta organisaatioluottamukseen ja taustatekijöiden vaikutuksia vastaajien arviointeihin. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvantitatiivisena tutkimuksena. Aineistona käytettiin aikaisemmin syksyllä 2011 kerättyä kyselyaineistoa kolmesta suomalaisesta asiantuntijaorganisaatiosta.
