Perception of pathogenic or beneficial bacteria and their evasion of host immunity: pattern recognition receptors in the frontline
2015
International audience; Plants are continuously monitoring the presence of microorganisms to establish an adapted response. Plants commonly use pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) to perceive microbe- or pathogen-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs/PAMPs) which are microorganism molecular signatures. Located at the plant plasma membrane, the PRRs are generally receptor-like kinases (RLKs) or receptor-like proteins (RLPs). MAMP detection will lead to the establishment of a plant defense program called MAMP-triggered immunity (MTI). In this review, we overview the RLKs and RLPs that assure early recognition and control of pathogenic or beneficial bacteria. We also highlight the crucial func…
Toward Quaternary QCA : Novel Majority and XOR Fuzzy Gates
2022
As an emerging nanotechnology, quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) has been considered an alternative to CMOS technology that suffers from problems such as leakage current. Moreover, QCA is suitable for multi-valued logic due to the simplicity of implementing fuzzy logic in a way much easier than CMOS technology. In this paper, a quaternary cell is proposed with two isolated layers because of requiring three particles to design this quaternary cell. Moreover, due to the instability of the basic gates, the three particles cannot be placed in one layer. The first layer of the proposed two-layer cell includes a ternary cell and the second one includes a binary cell. It is assumed that the over…
Soybean Diseases Caused by Genus Pseudomonas Phytopathenes Bacteria
2019
The rationale and experimental confirmation of the role of the bacteria of the Pseudomonas genus in the pathogenesis of soybean, and the investigation of the biological properties of the main causative agent Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. glycines. Methods. Theoretical generalization, laboratory-model research, phytopathological, microbiological, physiological, biochemical and genetic methods. Results. The largest group of pathogens in different soil-climatic zones of Ukraine consists of bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas was established. Bacterial diseases of energy plants
2017
Przedstawiono wyniki badań bakteryjnych patogenów bioenergetycznych roślin drzewiastych (topoli, brzozy), prowadzących do znacznego zmniejszenia zbiorów lub zaginięcia. Opisano różne choroby bakteryjne i patogeny zaznaczonych roślin, objawy tych chorób, charakterystykê obrażeń, rozmieszczenie i szkodliwość patogenów. Przedstawiono charakterystykê głównych chorób bakteryjnych (rak bakteryjny i martwicę bakteryjną kory) oraz mniej niebezpiecznych (mokradła), zarazy bakteryjne, choroby korzeni i gruźlica). Czynnikiem sprawczym bakteryjnego raku jest bakteria Xanthomonas populi (syn. Aplanobacterium populi). Jako towarzysząca mikroflora czynników wywołujących raka przeważają bakterie z rodzaju …
An Innovative Coupling Solution for Power Line Communication in MV Electrical Networks
2019
One of the main problems in the diffusion of power line communication (PLC) in medium voltage (MV) networks is the need of a dedicated PLC coupler to be installed all over the network. To avoid this problem, the authors have studied, prototyped and patented an innovative PLC coupling solution which uses electrical elements embedded in most of the switchgears already installed in MV networks, i.e. the capacitive dividers of the voltage detecting systems (VDS). The new solution prototype is described in this paper, highlighting the advantages in terms of a significant reduction of both direct costs of equipment and infrastructures and indirect costs of installation and service interruption. T…
Trans -Cyclooctene-Functionalized PeptoBrushes with Improved Reaction Kinetics of the Tetrazine Ligation for Pretargeted Nuclear Imaging
2020
Tumor targeting using agents with slow pharmacokinetics represents a major challenge in nuclear imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy as they most often result in low imaging contrast and high radiation dose to healthy tissue. To address this challenge, we developed a polymer-based targeting agent that can be used for pretargeted imaging and thus separates tumor accumulation from the imaging step in time. The developed targeting agent is based on polypeptide-graft-polypeptoid polymers (PeptoBrushes) functionalized with trans-cyclooctene (TCO). The complementary In-111-labeled imaging agent is a 1,2,4,5-tetrazine derivative, which can react with aforementioned TCO-modified PeptoBrushes i…
The effect of a temperature-sensitive prophage on the evolution of virulence in an opportunistic bacterial pathogen.
2022
https://doi.org/10.1111/mec.16638 Abstract Viruses are key actors of ecosystems and have major impacts on global biogeochemical cycles. Prophages deserve particular attention as they are ubiquitous in bacterial genomes and can enter a lytic cycle when triggered by environmental conditions. We explored how temperature affects the interactions between prophages and other biological levels by using an opportunistic pathogen, the bacterium Serratia marcescens, that harbours several prophages and that had undergone an evolution experiment under several temperature regimes. We found that the release of one of the prophages was temperature-sensitive and malleable to evolutionary changes. We furthe…
Self-esteem and depression in patients presenting angle class III malocclusion submitted for orthognathic surgery
2008
Objective: To assess self-esteem and depression in patients submitted for orthognathic surgery. Methods: Assessment was realized on 29 patients, male and female, aged 17 to 46, presenting Angle Class III malocclusion and referred for surgical treatment, during the preoperative (orthodontic preparation) and postoperative (six-month postoperative) periods. Either maxillomandibular or isolated procedures were performed. Two previously validated standardized measurement instruments for this area were used: the UNIFESP-EPM Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Self-Report Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20). Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis (Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance and the Bon…
