Effects of Oral Supplementation with Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol on Ovarian Functions in Female Long-Term Survivors of Lymphoma: Results from a…

2022

The progressive improvement of lymphoma treatment has led to an important prolongation of patient survival and life expectancy. The principal international scientific societies of oncology now therefore recommend that long-term survivors of lymphoma join fertility programs. Specifically, fertile-age patients should be assisted by a multidisciplinary team, including specialists dedicated to fertility preservation in oncology, in order to support the completion of their reproductive project. In the general population, the use of Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol (MI/DCI) has been demonstrated to be an effective choice to treat ovarian dysfunctions, with a consequent improvement in reproductiv…

Photoluminescent Detection of Human T-Lymphoblastic Cells by ZnO Nanorods.

2020

The precise detection of cancer cells currently remains a global challenge. One-dimensional (1D) semiconductor nanostructures (e.g., ZnO nanorods) have attracted attention due to their potential use in cancer biosensors. In the current study, it was demonstrated that the possibility of a photoluminescent detection of human leukemic T-cells by using a zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) platform. Monoclonal antibodies (MABs) anti-CD5 against a cluster of differentiation (CD) proteins on the pathologic cell surface have been used as a bioselective layer on the ZnO surface. The optimal concentration of the protein anti-CD5 to form an effective bioselective layer on the ZnO NRs surface was selected. …

BENDAMUSTINE IN ASSOCIATION WITH RITUXIMAB AS SALVAGE THERAPY FOR SPLENIC MARGINAL ZONE LYMPHOMA

2010

At present, a prospectively validated treatment for SMZL is lacking. Despite this fact, splenectomy is still deemed to be the best choice for patients requiring treatment. Nevertheless, the high fraction of patients achieving a clinical response following splenectomy eventually relapses or progresses

Oral pigmented lesions:a retrospective analysis from Brazil

2020

Background Pigmented lesions are uncommon in the oral mucosa, and studies investigating the incidence and types of these lesions are desired to improve the diagnostic knowledge of clinicians. The aim of this study was to analyze the distribution of oral pigmented lesions in a Brazilian population. Material and Methods A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study was performed. Oral pigmented lesions were retrieved from the files of two oral and maxillofacial pathology services from Brazil over a 45-year period (1974-2019). The clinical data and the diagnoses of each case were retrieved and included in a Microsoft Excel® database. Results From 77.074 lesions diagnosed in this period, 76…

Sir Thomas More's Utopia : An overlooked economic classic

2019

Sir Thomas More's Utopia, published in 1516, is a classic work of how to organise a society based on common property. With a unique mix of common property, institutions and sound economic insights, we argue that More built a framework for a society that could be viable in the long run. While the conditions that make Utopia work are quite restrictive, it does provide a sketch of a society where common property may not stifle long‐term development, but is associated with productive workers and people content with their lives.

Zum Wandel translatorischer Normen. 1930 und 1953 als polnische Übersetzungskontexte von Thomas Manns "Der Zauberberg"

2018

The changes of translation norms. 1930 and 1953 as contexts of the translation of The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. The author presents the preliminary considerations related to a planned study the purpose of which is to reconstruct the history of the Polish translation of Der Zauberberg (The Magic Mountain) by Thomas Mann and examine its impact on the Polish reception of the work. Since each of the two parts of the novel were translated by different translators and because the second volume was translated twice (in 1930 and 1953), the translation contexts are very significant. The concept of context is presented in conjunction with the historically variable understanding of translation st…

Farming intensity indirectly reduces crop yield through negative effects on agrobiodiversity and key ecological functions

2022

International audience; Farming intensity and landscape heterogeneity influence agrobiodiversity and associated ecological functions. The relative contributions of these agroecosystem components to agricultural production remain unclear because of inter-relations and weather-dependant variations. Using a structural equation modelling approach, we estimated direct and indirect contributions of farming intensity (soil management, pesticide use and fertilisation) and landscape heterogeneity (of semi-natural covers and crop mosaic) to cereal crop production, in 54 fields (mostly wheat), in two years (24 and 30 fields). Indirect effects were evaluated through agrobiodiversity (carabid and plant …
