Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia problem tłumaczenia fałszywych przyjaciół we frazeologii. Ponadto obrazuje on różnice w strategiach tłumaczeniowych grup respondentów i dokumentuje, że fałszywych przyjaciół w tekście można uniknąć, przy zachowaniu szczególnej czujności w trakcie tłumaczenia leksykalnie równoważnych frazeologizmów.
Adverbial expressions within the legal domain: from medieval fueros to their consolidation in language

Given the importance of legal language in the study of historical phraseological, it is here analyzed the presence, use and evolution of adverbial phrases in some outstanding medieval fueros, and also how a good number of adverbial expressions have transcended and developed from legal language to other contexts, owed to —at least in some cases— a clear colloquial origin (a sabiendas, por bien...). This characteristic joins many others, such as the creation of complex syntagmas derived from the union of simple expressions: de cabo a rabo, a diestro y a sinestro, a tuerto o a derecho, etc. It is therefore interesting to study the individual, particular history of each adverbial phrase found, …

Phrasemes reflect habits and customs, traditions, historical facts, social life phenomena and cultural values of a given society. Phrasemes often “live” longer than the image they reflect. Women were and still are a subject of phrasemes. The aim of this paper is an answer to the question if the image of women arising from the Polish and German phraseology in the face of the transformations taking place in the last 40 years in the society has changed and if new phrasemes describing women of the 21st century appeared.

Modālo darbības vārdu un tiem pielīdzināmo vārdu un frāžū lietojums laikrasta rakstos var atklāt rakstnieka attieksmi un viedokli pret paziņotiem faktiem. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt modālo darbības vārduun tiem pielīdzināmo vārdu un frāžū lietojumu laikrakstā „The Guardian”. Metode, kas tika izmantota darbā ir kvantitatīvā un kvalitatīvā analīze. Praktiskā daļa ir balstīta uz 15 rakstu analīzi, kas bija ņemti no laikraksta “The Guardian”. Rezultāti parādīja, ka modālie darbības vārdi, kā arī citi pielīdznināmie vārdi, tiek bieži izmantoti, un tiem irdažādas nozīmes tekstā. The present paper aims to describe both synchronic and diachronic distributions of the habitual aspectual periphrasis ‘saber + infinitive’ in the varieties of Spanish spoken in the South American continent. The data used for the present analysis come from the Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual and the Corpus del Español del Siglo XXI.
Frazeologizmy v demotivatorah

The article presents new compound words, which are frequently a verbal component of internet polycode texts, i.e. demotivators. Demotivators, i.e. pictures combining graphics or photo and ironie commentary, were at first a response to motivational posters, whose task was to encourage people to work or learn. In the virtual world demotivators comment on current events or mock everyday nonsense. They are such a solidified genre that some of the commentaries used in demotivators can be perceived as phraseological neologisms.

Action-Depicting Gestures and Morphosyntax: The Function of Gesture-Speech Alignment in the Conversational Turn

The current study examines the role of action-depicting gestures in conversational turns by focusing on their semantic characteristics and temporal position in relation to their verbal affiliates (action verbs or more complex verb phrases). The data are video recordings of naturally occurring interactions in multilingual construction sites in Norway. The analysis distinguishes two modes of action depiction: generic depictions, which represent the action as a general type, and contextualized depictions, which in addition include deictic references to the spatio-material environment or iconic representations of the specific manner of action performance.
