Selective and Sensitive Chromofluorogenic Detection of the Sulfite Anion in Water Using Hydrophobic Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Silica Nanoparticles

[EN] In water and wine: Chromofluorogenic detection of the sulfite anion in pure water was accomplished by using a new hybrid organic-inorganic material that contained a probe entrapped in hydrophobic biomimetic cavities. Synthesis and cation-exchange properties of a bis-zwitterionic lamellar hybrid material

The synthesis of a bis-zwitterionic lamellar hybrid material containing ammonium carboxylate groups is described. Cation-exchange properties of this material towards transition metal and lanthanide ions were studied as well as the regeneration and reuse of the material.

Abstract Dark-red single crystals of 4,4′-bipyridinium triaquahydrogen(1+) hexabromidorhodate(III) [4,4′-H2bipy][H7O3][RhBr6] (1) have been synthesized by a diffusion-controlled ligand exchange process from rhodium(III) chloride trihydrate and 4,4′-bipyridine dissolved in hydrochloric and hydrobromic acid, respectively. 1 could be considered as an inorganic–organic hydrogen-bonded network solid built up from the inorganic isolated hexabromidorhodate [RhBr6]3− octahedra, organic 4,4′-bipyridinium(2+) [4,4′-H2bipy]2+ and triaquahydrogen(1+) [H7O3]+ cations with nearly symmetrical O⋯O distances. Triplet–Triplet Annihilation Upconversion in a MOF with Acceptor‐Filled Channels

Abstract Photon upconversion has enjoyed increased interest in the last years due to its high potential for solar‐energy harvesting and bioimaging. A challenge for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA‐UC) processes is to realize these features in solid materials without undesired phase segregation and detrimental dye aggregation. The Missing Link in the Magnetism of Hybrid Cobalt Layered Hydroxides: The Odd‐Even Effect of the Organic Spacer

A dramatic change in the magnetic behaviour, which solely depends on the parity of the organic linker molecules, has been found in a family of layered CoII hydroxides covalently functionalized with dicarboxylic molecules. These layered hybrid materials have been synthesized at room temperature using a one-pot procedure through the epoxide route. While hybrids connected by odd alkyl chains exhibit coercive fields (Hc) below ca. 3500 Oe and show spontaneous magnetization at temperatures (TM) below 20 K, hybrids functionalized with even alkyl chains behave as hard magnets with Hc>5500 Oe and display a TM higher than 55 K. Studies on atomic layer deposition of MOF-5 thin films

International audience; Deposition of MOF-5 thin films from vapor phase by atomic layer deposition (ALD) was studied at 225-350 degrees C. Zinc acetate (ZnAc2) and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-BDC) were used as the precursors. The resulting films were characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), time-of-flight elastic recoil detection analysis (TOF-ERDA), isopropanol adsorption tests, and nanoindentation. A new classification on the different types of fullerene-containing polymers is presented according to their different properties and applications they exhibit in a variety of fields. Because of their interest and novelty, water-soluble and biodegradable C(60)-polymers are discussed first, followed by polyfullerene-based membranes where unprecedented supramolecular structures are presented. Iron and lithium-iron alkyl phosphates as nanostructured material for rechargeable batteries

Abstract Inorganic/organic hybrid materials composed by iron atoms bonded to an alkyl phosphate can be easily synthesized by mixing at 110 °C iron chlorides with tri-alkyl phosphates. Since structural information on these products are lacking and taking into account that lithium/iron organic hybrid materials are important in lithium ion battery technology we report here the physico-chemical characterization of different hybrid lithium/iron butylphosphates. Self-Assembly of 1D/2D Hybrid Nanostructures Consisting of a Cd(II) Coordination Polymer and NiAl-Layered Double Hydroxides

The preparation and characterization of a novel hybrid material based on the combination of a 2D-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets and a 1D-coordination polymer (1D-CP) has been achieved through a simple mixture of suspensions of both building blocks via an exfoliation/restacking approach. The hybrid material has been thoroughly characterized demonstrating that the 1D-CP moieties are intercalated as well as adsorbed on the surface of the LDH, giving rise to a layered assembly with the coexistence of the functionalities of their initial constituents.
