Technical standards in allergen exposure chambers worldwide - an EAACI Task Force Report
2021
Allergen exposure chambers (AECs) can be used for controlled exposure to allergenic and non-allergenic airborne particles in an enclosed environment, in order to (i) characterize the pathological features of respiratory diseases and (ii) contribute to and accelerate the clinical development of pharmacological treatments and allergen immunotherapy for allergic disease of the respiratory tract (such as allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma). In the guidelines of the European Medicines Agency for the clinical development of products for allergen immunotherapy (AIT), the role of AECs in determining primary endpoints in dose-finding Phase II trials is emphasized. A…
Considerazioni citotassonomiche e corologiche su Allium chamaespathum Boiss. (Alliaceae) geofita nuova per la flora italiana.
2010
Cu–Cu interactions in the transparent p-type conductors: CuAlO2 and SrCu2O2
2003
Abstract Electronic structures of the p-type Transparent Conducting Oxides (TCO): CuAlO2 and SrCu2O2 are calculated using the Tight Binding Linearized Muffin Tin Orbital within the Atomic Sphere Approximation method (TB-LMTO-ASA). The band structures indicate two gaps for CuAlO2 (an indirect one with ΔE≈0.45 eV and a direct one with ΔE≈1.25 eV) and one direct gap for SrCu2O2 (with ΔE≈2 eV). In both oxides the Cu states are dominant at the top of the valence band, close to the Fermi level and the existence of weak Cu–Cu bonding interactions is revealed through the Integrated Crystal Orbital Hamiltonian Population (ICOHP). The presence of such interactions suggests that for the hole doped oxi…
Hypertonic Stress and Amino Acid Deprivation Both Increase Expression of mRNA for Amino Acid Transport System A
2004
The activity of amino acid transport system A ([Oxender and Christensen, 1963][1]) is regulated in a variety of different ways, the best studied being the increases of its activity caused by starving cells of amino acids or by exposing them to hypertonicity (for review see [McGivan and Pastor-
Triterpene saponins from the roots ofAmpelozizyphus amazonicus
1992
A new triterpene saponin was isolated from the roots of Ampelozizyphus amazonicus together with the known 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-20-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyljujubogenin and the known triterpenes melaleucic acid, 3 beta,27 alpha-dihydroxylup-20(29)-en-28 beta-oic acid, betulinic acid, betulin, lupeol. The structure of this saponin was elucidated as 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1----2)alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl]- 20-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyljujubogenin by spectral analysis and chemical transformations.

On-Line Derivatization into Precolumns for the Determination of Drugs by Liquid Chromatography and Column Switching: Determination of Amphetamines i…
1996
A chromatographic system for the on-line derivatization of drugs using column switching is described. The system uses a 20 mm × 2.1 mm i.d. precolumn packed with a unmodified ODS stationary phase. This column is used for sample cleanup and enrichment of the analytes. Next, the trapped analytes are derivatized by injection of the derivatization reagent into the precolumn. Finally, the derivatives are transferred to the analytical column for their separation under reversed-phase conditions. The influence of several parameters such as the reaction time, the amount of derivatization reagent, or the system design has been studied using some amphetamines as model compounds and three derivatizatio…
Determination of amphetamines in hair by integrating sample disruption, clean-up and solid phase derivatization
2016
The utility of matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) for the direct analysis of amphetamines in hair samples has been evaluated, using liquid chromatography (LC) with fluorescence detection and precolumn derivatization. The proposed approach is based on the employment of MSPD for matrix disruption and clean-up, followed by the derivatization of the analytes onto the dispersant-sample blend. The fluorogenic reagent 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate (FMOC) has been used for derivatization. Different conditions for MSPD, analyte purification and solid phase derivatization have been tested, using amphetamine (AMP), methamphetamine (MET), ephedrine (EPE) and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)…
Observation of interaction forces by investigation of the influence of eluent additives on the retention behavior of aqueous nanoparticle dispersions…
2020
The investigation and subsequent understanding of the interactions of nanomaterials with components of their surrounding media is important to be able to evaluate both potential use cases as well as potential risks for human health and for the environment. To investigate such interactions, asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) is an interesting analytical tool. This statement grounds on the fact that interactions of the analyte with the membrane and with components of the eluent are crucial for the retention behavior of the analyte within the field-flow fractionation (FFF) channel. Therefore, the investigation of the retention behavior provides an insight in the nature of the int…
The Portrayal of Paul's Outer Appearance in the Acts of Paul and Thecla. Re-Considering the Correspondence between Body and Personality in Ancient Li…
2008
AbstractThis essay claims that Paul's description in Acts Paul Thecl. 3, if read against the background of Graeco-Roman physiognomics, i.e., the belief in the coherence between outer appearance and inner qualities of a person, is not derogative as assumed in older research but agreeable. The positive interpretation of Paul's outer appearance is corroborated by an analysis of the reactions he evokes in followers (Onesiphorus, Thecla) as well as opponents (Theoclia, Thamyris). It is demonstrated that Paul's physiognomy corresponds to his apostolic identity.
