Encapsulation of tetramethylphosphonium cations

2009

International audience; The weak interactions and capsule formation of tetramethylphosphonium (TMP) cation with resorcinarenes 1 and 2 and the corresponding pyrogallarenes 3 and 4 were studied in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction, in solution by NMR and in the gas phase by mass spectrometry. In methanol-D4, the NMR titration studies reveal that the association constants for the 1:1 complexes of TMP@3 and TMP@4 are much higher (TMP@4:390±37 M-1) than for the corresponding TMP@1 and TMP@2 (TMP@2:130±10 M-1) complexes. In the gas phase both monomeric 1:1 TMP@1-TMP@4 complexes as well as the dimeric 1:2 capsule complexes, TMP@12-TMP@42 were observed. The 1:1:2 molar mixtures o…

Diabetes and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system: Implications for covid-19 patients with diabetes treatment management

2020

In the context of the COVID-19 continuous spreading, this paper focuses on the increased risk of diabetic patients regarding the metabolic control and the uncertainties related to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Chronic hyperglycaemia negatively affects the immune system, which triggers an increase of morbidity and mortality for viral infections. A key aspect of COVID-19 resides in the involvement of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone (RAAS) system that causes a cascade of reactions mediated by vasoactive peptides with implications in vasoconstriction, vascular permeability, oxidative stress remodelling and tissue injuries. Activation of RAAS at pulmonary level, is responsible for the local damage. Many q…

Reactivity of di-n-butyl-dicyclopentadienylzirconium towards amido stabilized stannylenes

2009

Abstract Reaction of Sn[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )] 2 and [{Sn(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )(μ-Cl) 2 ] with di- n -butyl-dicyclopentadienylzirconium yielded the trimetallic a carbene-like complex {[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )]( n -Bu)Sn} 2 Cp 2 Zr. The oxidation of {[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )]( n -Bu)Sn} 2 Cp 2 Zr by oxygen gives the five-membered dioxadistannazirconacyclic complex {[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )]( n -Bu)Sn} 2 O 2 Cp 2 Zr.

Effect of different concentrations of specific inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases on the shear bond strength of self-adhesive resin cements to de…

2017

Background Considering the probability of chemical and enzymatic reactions between matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the dentin structure and their specific inhibitors, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of specific inhibitor of MMPs (galardin) on the shear bond strength of self-adhesive resin cements to dentin. Material and Methods Forty-eight sound human premolars were mounted in self-cured acrylic resin after removal of the enamel on the buccal and lingual surfaces. The dentin surfaces achieved were polished and prepared with 600-grit silicon carbide paper. The samples were divided into 3 groups (n=16) based on the concentration of galar…

Dietary and Household Sources of Prenatal Exposure to Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) in the INMA Birth Cohort (Spain)

2016

This study looked at predictors of exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) with a focus on dietary and household-level factors. Concentrations of BDE-47, -99, -153, and -209 and their sum (∑PBDEs) were measured in cord serum. Spanish women (n = 541) completed two semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires during the first and third trimesters of pregnancy. The daily mean intake (grams) of eggs, dairy products, meat, cereals and pasta, vegetables and pulses, fruits, shellfish and cephalopods, and fish, and the weekly mean intake (servings) of lean, large oily, other oily, and other fish from both questionnaires were averaged. Information on house size, curtains and carpets at …

Impact of internal variability on projections of Sahel precipitation change.

2017

12 pages; International audience; The impact of the increase of greenhouse gases on Sahelian precipitation is very uncertain in both its spatial pattern and magnitude. In particular, the relative importance of internal variability versus external forcings depends on the time horizon considered in the climate projection. In this study we address the respective roles of the internal climate variability versus external forcings on Sahelian precipitation by using the data from the CESM Large Ensemble Project, which consists of a 40 member ensemble performed with the CESM1-CAM5 coupled model for the period 1920–2100. We show that CESM1-CAM5 is able to simulate the mean and interannual variabilit…

Who's better at spotting? A comparison between aerial photography and observer-based methods to monitor floating marine litter and marine mega-fauna.

2020

Pollution by marine litter is raising major concerns due to its potential impact on marine biodiversity and, above all, on endangered mega-fauna species, such as cetaceans and sea turtles. The density and distribution of marine litter and mega-fauna have been traditionally monitored through observer-based methods, yet the advent of new technologies has introduced aerial photography as an alternative monitoring method. However, to integrate results produced by different monitoring techniques and consider the photographic method a viable alternative, this ‘new’ methodology must be validated. This study aims to compare observations obtained from the concurrent application of observer-based and…

Associations between air pollution and pediatric eczema, rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma: A meta-analysis of European birth cohorts

2020

Background: Uncertainly continues to exist regarding the role of air pollution on pediatric asthma and allergic conditions, especially as air pollution levels have started to decrease in recent decades. Objective: We examined associations of long-term air pollution levels at the home address with pediatric eczema, rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma prevalences in five birth cohorts (BIB, EDEN, GASPII, RHEA and INMA) from seven areas in five European countries. Methods: Current eczema, rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma were assessed in children aged four (N = 6527) and eight years (N = 2489). A multi-morbidity outcome (≥2 conditions versus none) was also defined. Individual outdoor levels of nitrog…

Simulated European stalagmite record and its relation to a quasi-decadal climate mode

2013

Abstract. A synthetic stalagmite record for the Bunker cave is constructed using a combined climate-stalagmite modeling approach. The power spectrum of the simulated speleothem calcite δ18O record has a pronounced peak at quasi-decadal time scale. Interestingly, mixing processes in the soil and karst above the cave represent a natural low-pass filter of the speleothem climate archive. We identify a quasi-decadal mode characterized by a "tripole pattern" of sea surface temperature affecting stalagmite δ18O values. This pattern, which is well-known in literature as the quasi-decadal mode in the North Atlantic, propagates eastwards and affects western European temperature surrounding the cave.…
