A critical conspectus of ItalianIsoetes(Isoetaceae)

The work on the Isoetaceae account for the Critical Flora of Italy has resulted in a new, synonymic inventory of Italian Isoetes taxa, based on herbarium studies, observation by scanning electron microscopy and critical re-examination of the previously published works. Ten species are listed. The names I. longissima and I. gymnocarpa are restored as correct, to replace I. velata and I. subinermis, respectively. Eighteen lectotypes, one epitype and one neotype are designated. A dichotomous key to Italian taxa is provided.

Darbs veltīts pirmajam pilnajam A. S. Puškina romāna «Jevgeņijs Oņegins» tulkojumam latviešu valodā, kuru 1929. gadā veicis provinciāls dzejnieks un tulkotājs Herberts Dorbe. Pētījuma mērķis ir atklāt tulkotāja interpretācijas identitāti mākslas, vēsturiskās un kultūras vērtības aspektā. Darbs strukturēts trīs nodaļās. Pirmajā nodaļā ir aprakstītas un analizētas romāna «Jevgeņijs Oņegins» latviešu tulkojumu problēmas, ka arī sniegts kritisko rakstu pārskats par pirmo pilno latviešu tulkojumu. Otrā nodaļa satur H. Dorbes radošās laboratorijas analīzi dažādos aspektos. Trešā nodaļa ir empīrisks pētījums, kurā, izmantojot salīdzinošu analīzi, tiek atklātas dažādas tulkojuma transformācijas, ka…

Vēsturiskā kamera herbāriju ievākšanai

19. gadsimtā par botāniķu lauka darbu ierastu aprīkojumumu kļuva no metāla izgatavota kamera herbārija uzglabāšanai (‘vasculum’). Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja Botānikas un mikoloģijas kolekcijās glabājas ne tikai šādas kameras lietojuma liecības fotogrāfijās, bet arī pati kamera.
Karla Reinholda Kupfera herbāriju saraksts

1929. gadā dabaspētnieks Karls Reinholds Kupfers (1872 – 1935) pārdeva Latvijas Universitātei savu herbāriju, kas bija izvietots skapjos, kam klāt bija kolektora sastādīts saraksts. Šobrīd LU Muzeja Botānikas un Mikoloģijas kolekcijās glabājas ne tikai šis aptuveni 26 700 lapu lielais herbārijs, kas veido Herbarium Balticum (starptautiskais kods RIG I), bet arī zinātnieka skapji, kuros izvietots K. R. Kupfera mantojuma apakškolekcija.

The genus Cyphostemma (Planch.) Alston (Vitaceae) includes about 150 species distrib- uted in eastern and southern Africa and Madagascar. Some species are used in traditional medicine and their biological activities, including antiproliferative effects against cancer cell lines, have been demonstrated. To date no investigations on Cyphostemma essential oils have been carried out. Hyönteisiin lukeutuu monia merkittäviä tuholaisia, taudinvälittäjiä ja hyödyllisiä lajeja, minkä takia hyönteisten taudit, taudinaiheuttajat ja immuunipuolustus ovat ekologisesta, ekonomisesta ja lääketieteellisestä näkökulmasta tärkeitä tutkimuskohteita. The photophysics of the neutral molecular form of the herbicide asulam has been described in a joint experimental and theoretical, at the CASPT2 level, study. The unique π → π* aromatic electronic transition (f, ca. 0.5) shows a weak red-shift as the polarity of the solvent is increased, whereas the fluorescence band undergoes larger red-shifts. Solvatochromic data point to higher dipole moment in the excited state than in the ground state (μ(g)μ(e)). The observed increase in pKa in the excited state (pKa* - pKa, ca. 3) is consistent with the results of the Kamlet-Abboud-Taft and Catalán et al. multiparametric approaches.
