Complexation of C-methyl pyrogallarene with small quaternary and tertiary alkyl ammonium cations

2007

Complexation properties of pyrogallarene 1 towards small quaternary and tertiary alkyl ammonium cations were studied in gas phase, solution and in solid state. In gas phase both dimeric capsules and monomeric 1 : 1 complexes of all cations 2a+–d+ are detected but only in the case of 2a+ is the abundance of the capsule form higher than the monomeric 1 : 1 complex. A similar trend is observed in NMR experiments, which reveal a favourable dimeric complex for 2a+ and a weaker dimeric complex for 2b+ but only monomeric complexes for 2c+ and 2d+. Also in solid state, 2a+ and 2b+ form capsules when crystallized from MeOH while 2c+ and 2d+ form dimeric 1 : 1 complexes. As a reference, hetero-confor…

Vinylic polymerization of norbornene by Pd(II)-catalysis in the presence of ethylene

1997

Pd(II) catalysts with nitrilo ligands and BF4− counter ions give the best results in vinylic polymerization of norbornene. Absolute molecular weight determination of polynorbornene (PN) by means of light scattering and the three-dimensional shape of PN were also investigated. By correlation of molecular weights Mw with intrinsic viscosity (Staudinger-index) [η], yield a close to 0.5 exponent for the Mark-Houwink equation with solvents chlorobenzene and cyclohexane at 25°C expected for polymer molecules with confined conformation. The vinylic polymerization of norbornene with [(CH3CN)4Pd][BF4]2 (I) in nitromethane in the presence of ethylene results in PN with narrow molecular weight distrib…

UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI DAN SKRINING FITOKIMIA EKSTRAK HEKSANA, ETIL ASETAT DAN METANOL TUMBUHAN SURUHAN (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth)

2020

Antibacterial activity test and screening of phytochemical of extract hexane, ethyl acetate  and methanol have been carried out. The extraction of the P.pellucida plants was carried out by the maceration method in stages based on the polarity of the solvent. Analysis of chemical compounds done with phytochemical screening test. Based on the identification of chemical compounds by phytochemical screening, hexane and ethyl acetate extract has been detected only in the presence of flavonoid compounds with moderate categories. Methanol  extract contains high-grade alkaloids and moderate flavonoid and tannin compounds. Antibacterial test using disffusion methods suggest that ethyl acetate and me…

Distance Matters: Biasing Mechanism, Transfer of Asymmetry, and Stereomutation in N-Annulated Perylene Bisimide Supramolecular Polymers

2021

International audience; The synthesis of two series of N-annulated perylene bisimides (PBIs), compounds 1 and 2, is reported, and their self-assembling features are thoroughly investigated by a complete set of spectroscopic measurements and theoretical calculations. The study corroborates the enormous influence that the distance between the PBI core and the peripheral groups exerts on the chiroptical properties and the supramolecular polymerization mechanism. Compounds 1, with the peripheral groups separated from the central PBI core by two methylenes and an ester group, form J-type supramolecular polymers in a cooperative manner but exhibit negligible chiroptical properties. The lack of cl…

Functional Group Distribution and Gradient Structure Resulting from the Living Anionic Copolymerization of Styrene and para-But-3-enyl Styrene

2014

The functional group distribution along the polymer backbone resulting from the living anionic copolymerization of styrene (S) and para-but-3-enyl styrene (pBuS) was investigated in cyclohexane at room temperature. A variety of copolymers with different comonomer contents x(S) = 0–0.84 have been synthesized with molecular weight dispersities Mw/Mn ≤1.12. All polymers have been characterized in detail by 1H NMR spectroscopy, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A detailed understanding of the monomer sequence distribution during the copolymerization was achieved by real-time 1H NMR spectroscopy. This technique permits us to determine the changing …

Living Polymer Chains with Predictable Molecular Weight and Dispersity via Carbanionic Polymerization in Continuous Flow: Mixing Rate as a Key Parame…

2016

Aiming at systematic variation of the parameter dispersity, Đ (or “polydispersity”), living polymers with predictable dispersity (Đ = 1.15–2.20) and controlled molecular weights (Mn = 3200–18 500 g mol–1) were prepared via carbanionic polymerization. The approach relies on a continuous flow reactor equipped with a tangential four-way jet micromixing device. By varying the total flow rate, the mixing efficiency of the initiator (sec-BuLi) and the corresponding vinyl monomers is controlled, resulting in polymers with predefined dispersity, while the number-average molecular weight, Mn, is kept constant. In this manner living polystyrene (PS), poly(p-methylstyrene) (PpMeS), and poly(2-vinylpyr…

Polymer, Metal, and Hybrid Nano- and Mesotubes by Coating Degradable Polymer Template Fibers (TUFT Process)

2000

). Selective reaction with the silver atoms at the interface of the particles occurred and the coated particles were then extracted from reverse micelles. The powder of coated nanocrystals thus obtained was then dispersed in hexane, giving an optically clear solution. The size distribution was still rather large (30 %), and to reduce it a size-selected precipitation process [20] was used. In this process two solvents, such as hexane and pyridine, are mixed. The first is a good solvent and the second a poor solvent for the alkyl chains. With this solvent mixture, the larger coated particles flocculated whereas the smaller ones remain in the solution, thus providing size selection. By repeati…

Regio- and diastereoselective fluorination of alicyclic β-amino acids.

2011

A regio- and stereoselective approach to fluorinated β-aminocyclohexene or cyclohexane esters has been developed, starting from a bicyclic β-lactam (1). The procedure involves six or seven steps, based on regio- and stereoselective iodolactonization, lactone opening and hydroxy–fluorine exchange. The method has been extended to the synthesis of fluorinated amino ester enantiomers.

Branched Versus Linear Polyisoprene: Flory-Huggins Interaction Parameters for their Solutions in Cyclohexane

2009

Flory-Huggins interaction parameters were determined as a function of composition for solutions of linear and of branched polyisoprene in cyclohexane (CH) at 25, 45, and 65 °C by means of vapor pressure measurements (moderate to concentrated solutions) and by vapor pressure osmometry (dilute solutions). The results demonstrate that CH is a considerably worse solvent for branched polyisoprene than for the linear analog at all temperatures and at all compositions. This observation corroborates the expectation based on a recent phenomenological approach, which accounts explicitly for the incapability of the segments of an individual polymer molecule to spread out over the entire volume of the …

Step-growth Polymerization ofBistriazolinediones with1,1-Diphenylethylene

1996

The reactions of 4-ethyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (ETD) (1) and 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (PhTD) (2) with 1,1-diphenylethylene (DPE) (3) were investigated at room temperature. The reactions are very fast and are completed in less than 4 min. These reactions lead to the formation of two 2 :1 adducts via double Diels-Alder and Diels-Alder-ene reactions in a ratio of 1.35 : 1. The structure of these adducts where R = Et were determined by X-ray analysis of a single crystal. These compounds were used as models for the polymerization reactions. The reaction of bistriazolinediones (1,6-bis-(3,5-dioxo-1,2,4-triazoline-4-yl)hexane and bis-(p-3,5-dioxo-1,2,4-triazoline-4-ylphenyl)methane…
