A Study into the Integration of ICT into a Business Management Course: Challenges and Achievements
2012
Nowadays, the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) play an increasingly important role in education. Indeed, ICT are considered as very useful pedagogic tools, and multimedia resources are constantly being created, updated and shared by university members worldwide. This paper deals with a case of study exploring the way in which the integration of ICT impacts learning in the context of a business management course at the Universitat de València (UV), in Spain. The results of the study point out the need for academic staff and students to acquire the appropriate knowledge and to develop the skills required for an efficient and effective use of ICT in higher education. Transverse-momentum-dependent Multiplicities of Charged Hadrons in Muon-Deuteron Deep Inelastic Scattering
2017
A semi-inclusive measurement of charged hadron multiplicities in deep inelastic muon scattering off an isoscalar target was performed using data collected by the COMPASS Collaboration at CERN. The following kinematic domain is covered by the data: photon virtuality $Q^{2}>1$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$, invariant mass of the hadronic system $W > 5$ GeV/$c^2$, Bjorken scaling variable in the range $0.003 < x < 0.4$, fraction of the virtual photon energy carried by the hadron in the range $0.2 < z < 0.8$, square of the hadron transverse momentum with respect to the virtual photon direction in the range 0.02 (GeV/$c)^2 < P_{\rm{hT}}^{2} < 3$ (GeV/$c$)$^2$. The multiplicities are pres…

A comparative study on campus sustainability in higher education sector in Hong Kong and Finland
2015
This thesis presents a comparative study examining the practices of campus sustainability in Higher Education Sectors between Hong Kong and Finland. Campus sustainability is a trend during the last decade as a result of numerous declarations and meetings for sustainable development in Higher education all over the world. In this thesis, the investigated areas are focused on environmental sustainability and Social sustainability. This study used the content analysis method to analyze public available documents from the selected fifteen Higher education institutions in Hong Kong and Finland. The first stage was a description of the current overall situations of campus sustainability in the tw…
Pathways to higher education: the aspirations of first and second generation immigrants and the permeability of educational tracks in France, Switzer…
2013
Despite their different histories as countries of immigration, Switzerland, France and Canada all have a sizeable immigrant population, some of which do experience obstacles in their educational and professional careers. On the one hand, France and Switzerland offer both academic and vocational routes to higher education, whereas academic routes prevail in Canada. In this paper the authors clarify not only if, but also how - through which institutional settings - higher education is accessed by students from vulnerable immigrant groups. The results show that across the three countries, 1st and 2nd generation Northern African youths in France, Turkish or former Yugoslavian youths in Switzerl…

Review on Higher-Order Neural Units to Monitor Cardiac Arrhythmia Patterns
2017
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive technique that checks for problems with the electrical activity of a patient’s heart. ECG is economical and extremely versatile. Some of its characteristics make it a very useful tool to detect cardiac pathologies. The ECG records a series of characteristic waves called PQRST; however, the QRS complex analysis enables the detection of a type of arrhythmia in an ECG. Technological developments enable the storage of a large amount of data, from which knowledge extraction is impossible without a powerful data processing tool; in particular, an adequate signal processing tool, whose output provides reliable parameters as a basis to make a precise cli…
Educational innovation in basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pediatrics and neonatology in a realistic context
2018
Clinical simulation: innovative educational project in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced in pediatrics and neonatology
2019
[EN] Introduction: Nowadays, clinical simulation could be a key link in the teaching and learning of different procedures. Methodology: It is a quasi-experimental study, using three evaluation questionnaires as a method to collect the respective information to the acquisition of competences and satisfaction of the students regarding a theoretical-practical training on pediatric and neonatal CPR for students of 2nd year Nursing the University of Valencia. To this end, 17 RCP laboratories formed by 228 students were carried out. Results: The students gave a great reception to this project, giving it a score of 8.82 (SD 0.42) out of 10. The most valued item (by the students) was that in which …
Existence and Regularity for a Class of Nonlinear Hyperbolic Boundary Value Problems
2002
AbstractThe regularity of the solution of the telegraph system with nonlinear monotone boundary conditions is investigated by two methods. The first one is based on D'Alembert-type representation formulae for the solution. In the second method the telegraph system is reduced to a linear Cauchy problem with a locally Lipschitzian functional perturbation; then regularity results are established by appealing to the theory of linear semigroups.
