Thermal aggregation of bovine serum albumin at different pH: comparison with human serum albumin.

We report here a study on thermal aggregation of BSA at two different pH values selected to be close to the isoelectric point (pI) of this protein. Our aim is to better understand the several steps and mechanisms accompanying the aggregation process. For this purpose we have performed kinetics of integrated intensity emission of intrinsic and extrinsic dyes, tryptophans and ANS respectively, kinetics of Rayleigh scattering and of turbidity. Organometallic Palladium Complexes with a Water-Soluble Iminophosphorane Ligand As Potential Anticancer Agents

The synthesis and characterization of a new water-soluble iminophosphorane ligand TPA=N-C(O)-2BrC(6)H(4) (C,N-IM; TPA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) 1 is reported. Oxidative addition of 1 to Pd(2)(dba)(3) affords the orthopalladated dimer [Pd(μ-Br){C(6)H(4)(C(O)N=TPA-kC,N)-2}](2) (2) as a mixture of cis and trans isomers (1:1 molar ratio) where the iminophosphorane moeity behaves as a C,N-pincer ligand. A DOTA based bisphosphonate with an albumin binding moiety for delayed body clearance for bone targeting

Radiolabeled bisphosphonates are commonly used in the diagnosis and therapy of bone metastases. Blood clearance of bisphosphonates is usually fast and only 30%-50% of the injected activity is retained in the skeleton, while most of the activity is excreted by the urinary tract. A longer blood circulation may enhance accumulation of bisphosphonate compounds in bone metastases. The nature of the protein corona forming on biomaterial surfaces can affect the performance of implanted devices. This study investigated the role of surface chemistry and wettability on human serum-derived protein corona formation on biomaterial surfaces and the subsequent effects on the cellular innate immune response. Plasma polymerization, a substrate-independent technique, was employed to create nanothin coatings with four specific chemical functionalities and a spectrum of surface charges and wettability. Interactions of benzodiazepines with human serum albumin. Circular dichroism studies.

The circular dichroism spectra of 12 benzodiazepine derivatives studied in presence of human serum albumin are presented. Nearly all substances give biphasic extrinsic Cotton effects. At the CD maxima the molar ellipticities and the anisotropy factors are calculated. The influence of the chemical structure of the benzodiazepines on the induced Cotton effect is discussed. There is a linear correlation between the anisotropy factors and the logarithms of the partition coefficients of the substances. It is suggested that the phenyl ring of the benzodiazepine molecule is one of the essential groups for the binding of these substances to human serum albumin.

Electrokinetic chromatographic estimation of the enantioselective binding of nomifensine to human serum albumin and total plasma proteins

This report is the first evidence of enantioselective binding of nomifensine to human serum albumin (HSA) and plasma proteins. Evaluation of the enantioselective binding of imazalil to human serum albumin by capillary electrophoresis

In this work, a methodology for the evaluation of enantioselective binding of imazalil (IMA) enantiomers to human serum albumin (HSA) that does not require the separation of free and bound to HSA fractions is developed. In this work, a methodology for the chiral separation of zopiclone (ZPC) by electrokinetic chromatography (EKC) using carboxymethylated-β-cyclodextrin as chiral selector has been developed and applied to the evaluation of the enantioselective binding of ZPC enantiomers to HSA and total plasma proteins.
