Gas phase heterogeneous partial oxidation reactions
2018
Abstract Mixed metal oxides are used as catalysts in the gas phase partial oxidation of hydrocarbons. This paper will present the principles of catalyst choice for selective oxidation reactions as well as the structural features of metal oxide catalysts. The nature of active sites in selective oxidation reactions will also be briefly discussed. We will pay special attention to several representative reactions: (1) ODH of short chain alkanes (from C1 to C4), (2) propene partial oxidation/ammoxidation on bismuth molybdate based catalysts, (3) n-butane direct oxidation to maleic anhydride on VPO type catalysts, and (4) propane direct oxidation/ammoxidation on mixed MoVTe(Sb)Nb–O catalysts. Fin…
Ionic Liquid Gels: Supramolecular Reaction Media for the Alcoholysis of Anhydrides.
2019
The search of new enantioselective catalysts, able to promote synthetically useful organic reactions with high levels of asymmetric induction, should be associated with the attention to the suitable reaction medium able to achieve the best efficiency in chemical processes. We have investigated the enantioselective desymmetrization of cyclic meso-anhydrides in nonconventional reaction media such as ionic liquids and supramolecular gels. With this aim, we examined several variables in the reacting system: the nature of ionic liquid used as the reaction medium, the gelation solvent, the structure of the anhydrides, the structure of alcohols, the chiral catalysts, and the reaction conditions, i…
Innovative method to estimate state of charge of the hydride hydrogen tank: application of fuel cell electric vehicles
2021
International audience; Significant attention has been paid to metal hydrides (MH) as an environmentally friendly and safe way to store hydrogen. This technology has considerable potential for the application of embedded hydrogen storage in fuel cell electric vehicles, but its widespread application faces a major problem in terms of estimating the remaining hydrogen amount in the tank. In this work, a new method is proposed for estimating the state of charge (SoC) of the hydrogen hydride tank (HHT) by application of piezoelectric material. The idea is to cover the entire inner wall of the metal-hydride tank with a layer of piezoelectric material. During the process of hydrogen absorption, t…
The MRN complex is transcriptionally regulated by MYCN during neural cell proliferation to control replication stress
2015
The MRE11/RAD50/NBS1 (MRN) complex is a major sensor of DNA double strand breaks, whose role in controlling faithful DNA replication and preventing replication stress is also emerging. Inactivation of the MRN complex invariably leads to developmental and/or degenerative neuronal defects, the pathogenesis of which still remains poorly understood. In particular, NBS1 gene mutations are associated with microcephaly and strongly impaired cerebellar development, both in humans and in the mouse model. These phenotypes strikingly overlap those induced by inactivation of MYCN, an essential promoter of the expansion of neuronal stem and progenitor cells, suggesting that MYCN and the MRN complex migh…
Protecting group-free radical decarboxylation of bile acids: Synthesis of novel steroidal substituted maleic anhydrides and maleimides and evaluation…
2017
Abstract We report the first Barton radical decarboxylation of unprotected bile acids via in situ irradiation of their thiohydroxamic esters in the presence of citraconic anhydride and citracoimide, leading to the synthesis a series of steroidal maleic anhydrides and maleimides as novel hybrid bile acids. The cytotoxic activities were evaluated on C6 rat glioma cells.
Design of new sensitive α,β-unsaturated carbonyl 1,8-naphtalimide fluorescent probes for thiol bioimaging
2017
International audience; We report herein an efficient synthesis of news naphtalimide-based fluorescent derivatives functionalized with an a,(3-unsaturated carbonyl group. Probes were synthesized from reaction of an amino-naphtalimide precursor with maleic anhydride. Photophysical study of fluorescent probes and cells labelling were performed, and showed that the reactive derivatives exhibit rich turn on fluorescence properties in presence of different biological thiol (Glutathione and Cysteine) making these systems a very promising way for thiol bioimaging.
[Cu32(PET)24H8Cl2](PPh4)2: A Copper Hydride Nanocluster with a Bisquare Antiprismatic Core
2020
Atomically precise coinage metal (Au, Ag, and Cu) nanoclusters (NCs) have been the subject of immense interest for their intriguing structural, photophysical, and catalytic properties. However, the synthesis of Cu NCs is highly challenging because of low reduction potential and high reactivity of copper, demonstrating the need for new synthetic methods using appropriate ligand combinations. By designing a diamine-assisted synthetic strategy, here we report the synthesis and total structure characterization of a box-like dianionic Cu NC [Cu32(PET)24H8Cl2](PPh4)2 coprotected by 2-phenylethanethiolate (PET), hydride, and chloride ligands. Its crystal structure comprises a rare bisquare antipri…
An increased F2-laser damage in ‘wet’ silica glass due to atomic hydrogen: A new hydrogen-related E′-center
2006
Abstract A dramatic increase of F2-laser induced room temperature-stable point defects in ‘wet’ synthetic silica glass occurs when irradiation temperature is lowered to 80 K. Contrary to the predictions based on the established models of defect processes, a large part of defects induced at 80 K remains stable also at the room temperature. The intensities of the laser-induced optical absorption bands of the non-bridging oxygen hole centers (2.0 and 4.8 eV) and E′-centers (5.8 eV) are comparable to those created by neutron irradiation (1018 n/cm2). A growth of infrared absorption peak at 2237 cm−1 indicates creation of silicon hydride (SiH) groups. A study of irradiation dose dependences and …
Detection of deuterated molecules, but not of lithium hydride, in the z = 0.89 absorber toward PKS 1830−211
2020
Deuterium and lithium are light elements of high cosmological and astrophysical importance. In this work we report the first detection of deuterated molecules and a search for lithium hydride, 7LiH, at redshift z=0.89 in the spiral galaxy intercepting the line of sight to the quasar PKS1830-211. We used ALMA to observe several submillimeter lines of ND, NH2D, and HDO, and their related isotopomers NH2, NH3, and H2^18O, in absorption against the southwest image of the quasar, allowing us to derive XD/XH abundance ratios. The absorption spectra mainly consist of two distinct narrow velocity components for which we find remarkable differences. One velocity component shows XD/XH abundances that…
Ag11(SG)7 : A New Cluster Identified by Mass Spectrometry and Optical Spectroscopy
2014
We report a one-step and high yield synthesis of a red-luminescent silver cluster with the molecular formula, Ag11(SG)7 (SG: glutathionate) via reduction of silver ions by sodium borohydride in the presence of the tripeptide, glutathione (GSH). The as-prepared cluster shows prominent absorption features at 485 and 625 nm in its UV-vis absorption spectrum. Aging of the as-prepared cluster solution led to the disappearance of the 625 nm peak, followed by broadening of the 485 nm peak to give three maxima at ?487, 437, and 393 nm in its absorption spectrum. These peaks remain unchanged even after polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), where a single band was observed confirming high purity…
