Myelin Basic Protein synthesis is regulated by small non‐coding RNA 715
2012
Oligodendroglial Myelin Basic Protein (MBP) synthesis is essential for myelin formation in the central nervous system. During oligodendrocyte differentiation, MBP mRNA is kept in a translationally silenced state while intracellularly transported, until neuron-derived signals initiate localized MBP translation. Here we identify the small non-coding RNA 715 (sncRNA715) as an inhibitor of MBP translation. SncRNA715 localizes to cytoplasmic granular structures and associates with MBP mRNA transport granule components. We also detect increased levels of sncRNA715 in demyelinated chronic human multiple sclerosis lesions, which contain MBP mRNA but lack MBP protein.
BAG3 mediates chaperone-based aggresome-targeting and selective autophagy of misfolded proteins.
2010
Increasing evidence indicates the existence of selective autophagy pathways, but the manner in which substrates are recognized and targeted to the autophagy system is poorly understood. One strategy is transport of a particular substrate to the aggresome, a perinuclear compartment with high autophagic activity. In this paper, we identify a new cellular pathway that uses the specificity of heat-shock protein 70 (Hsp70) to misfolded proteins as the basis for aggresome-targeting and autophagic degradation. This pathway is regulated by the stress-induced co-chaperone Bcl-2-associated athanogene 3 (BAG3), which interacts with the microtubule-motor dynein and selectively directs Hsp70 substrates …
RESECTION of PRIMARY TUMOR at DIAGNOSIS in STAGE IV-s NEUROBLASTOMA: Does it Affect the Clinical Course?
1996
To determine whether resection of primary tumor has a favorable influence on outcome of infants (age 0 to 11 months) with IV-s Neuroblastoma.
Stata Automatic Report (SAR) 1.0
2011
The output provided by most Stata commands is a plain text not suitable to be presented or published. After the numerical output is obtained, the user has to copy it in a word processor to complete the editing process. Some Stata commands help you to obtain well formatted output, expecially tabulating results in LaTex or other formats, but they are not a complete solution and they are not friendly tools. Stata automatic report (Sar) is an easy to use macro for Microsoft Word for Windows which allows a powerful integration between Stata and the word processor by Microsoft. Using Sar the user can retrieve numerical results from Stata and automatically insert them in a well formatted Word docu…

IP 3 signalling regulates exogenous RNA i in C aenorhabditis elegans
2015
RNA interference (RNAi) is a widespread and widely exploited phenomenon. Here, we show that changing inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) signalling alters RNAi sensitivity in Caenorhabditis elegans. Reducing IP3 signalling enhances sensitivity to RNAi in a broad range of genes and tissues. Conversely up-regulating IP3 signalling decreases sensitivity. Tissue-specific rescue experiments suggest IP3 functions in the intestine. We also exploit IP3 signalling mutants to further enhance the sensitivity of RNAi hypersensitive strains. These results demonstrate that conserved cell signalling pathways can modify RNAi responses, implying that RNAi responses may be influenced by an animal's physiology…
Reporting Intellectual Capital in Health Care organizations: Specifics, lessons learned, and future research perspectives
2011
This article analyzes the concept of intellectual capital (IC) in the health sector sphere by studying thecase of a major nonprofi t research organization in this sector, which has for some time been publishingIC reports. In the last few years, health care organizations have been the object of great attention in theimplementation and transfer of managerial models and tools; however, there is still a lack of attentionpaid to the strategic management of IC as a fundamental resource for supporting and enhancing performanceimprovement dynamics. The main aim of this article is to examine the IC reporting model usedby the Center of Molecular Medicine (CMM), a Swedish health organization which is …
Endovascular Treatment of Spontaneous and Isolated Infrarenal Acute Aortic Syndrome with Unibody Aortic Stent-Grafts
2020
Abstract Introduction Spontaneous acute aortic syndrome (IAAS) is rarely localized in the infrarenal aorta. The endovascular approach is preferred over conventional open surgery with fewer complications. However, dedicated endovascular devices for IAAS treatment are unavailable. The aim was to report a large single-center experience using unibody stent-grafts to address IAAS. Methods From April 2016 to March 2019, a retrospective analysis of patients presenting spontaneous and isolated IAAS was performed. Patients addressed with the unibody stent-graft (AFX endovascular AAA system; Endologix Inc., Irvine, CA) were included in the study. Indications to IAAS treatment were persistent symptoms…
