On self-normalising subgroups of finite groups

2010

[EN] The aim of this paper is to characterise the classes of groups in which every subnormal subgroup is normal, permutable, or S-permutable by the embedding of the subgroups (respectively, subgroups of prime power order) in their normal, permutable, or S-permutable closure, respectively.

On a graph related to permutability in finite groups

2010

For a finite group G we define the graph $\Gamma(G)$ to be the graph whose vertices are the conjugacy classes of cyclic subgroups of G and two conjugacy classes $\{\mathcal {A}, \mathcal {B}\}$ are joined by an edge if for some $\{A \in \mathcal {A},\, B \in \mathcal {B}\, A\}$ and B permute. We characterise those groups G for which $\Gamma(G)$ is complete.

The mixed general routing polyhedron

2003

[EN] In Arc Routing Problems, ARPs, the aim is to find on a graph a minimum cost traversal satisfying some conditions related to the links of the graph. Due to restrictions to traverse some streets in a specified way, most applications of ARPs must be modeled with a mixed graph. Although several exact algorithms have been proposed, no polyhedral investigations have been done for ARPs on a mixed graph. In this paper we deal with the Mixed General Routing Problem which consists of finding a minimum cost traversal of a given link subset and a given vertex subset of a mixed graph. A formulation is given that uses only one variable for each link (edge or arc) of the graph. Some properties of the…

The small-world of 'Le Petit Prince': Revisiting the word frequency distribution

2016

[EN] Many complex systems are naturally described through graph theory, and different kinds of systems described as networks present certain important characteristics in common. One of these features is the so-called scale-free distribution for its node s connectivity, which means that the degree distribution for the network s nodes follows a power law. Scale-free networks are usually referred to as small-world because the average distance between their nodes do not scale linearly with the size of the network, but logarithmically. Here we present a mathematical analysis on linguistics: the word frequency effect for different translations of the Le Petit Prince in different languages. Compar…

Factorization of absolutely continuous polynomials

2013

In this paper we study the ideal of dominated (p,s)-continuous polynomials, that extend the nowadays well known ideal of p-dominated polynomials to the more general setting of the interpolated ideals of polynomials. We give the polynomial version of Pietsch s factorization Theorem for this new ideal. Our factorization theorem requires new techniques inspired in the theory of Banach lattices.

Factorization of (q,p)-summing polynomials through Lorentz spaces

2017

[EN] We present a vector valued duality between factorable (q,p)-summing polynomials and (q,p)-summing linear operators on symmetric tensor products of Banach spaces. Several applications are provided. First, we prove a polynomial characterization of cotype of Banach spaces. We also give a variant of Pisier's factorization through Lorentz spaces of factorable (q,p)-summing polynomials from C(K)-spaces. Finally, we show a coincidence result for (q,p)-concave polynomials.(c) 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A Riemann manifold structure of the spectra of weighted algebras of holomorphic functions

2009

[EN] In this paper we give general conditions on a countable family V of weights on an unbounded open set U in a complex Banach space X such that the weighted space HV (U) of holomorphic functions on U has a Frechet algebra structure. For such weights it is shown that the spectrum of HV(U) has a natural analytic manifold structure when X is a symmetrically regular Banach space, and in particular when X = C-n. Shrinking and boundedly complete Schauder frames in Fréchet spaces

2014

We study Schauder frames in Fréchet spaces and their duals, as well as perturbation results. We define shrinking and boundedly complete Schauder frames on a locally convex space, study the duality of these two concepts and their relation with the reflexivity of the space. We characterize when an unconditional Schauder frame is shrinking or boundedly complete in terms of properties of the space. Several examples of concrete Schauder frames in function spaces are also presented.

The support localization property of the strongly embedded subspaces of banach function spaces

2015

[EN] Motivated by the well known Kadec-Pelczynski disjointifcation theorem, we undertake an analysis of the supports of non-zero functions in strongly embedded subspaces of Banach functions spaces. The main aim is to isolate those properties that bring additional information on strongly embedded subspaces. This is the case of the support localization property, which is a necessary condition fulflled by all strongly embedded subspaces. Several examples that involve Rademacher functions, the Volterra operator, Lorentz spaces or Orlicz spaces are provided.

Domination spaces and factorization of linear and multilinear summing operators

2015

[EN] It is well known that not every summability property for multilinear operators leads to a factorization theorem. In this paper we undertake a detailed study of factorization schemes for summing linear and nonlinear operators. Our aim is to integrate under the same theory a wide family of classes of mappings for which a Pietsch type factorization theorem holds. Our construction includes the cases of absolutely p-summing linear operators, (p, sigma)-absolutely continuous linear operators, factorable strongly p-summing multilinear operators, (p(1), ... , p(n))-dominated multilinear operators and dominated (p(1), ... , p(n); sigma)-continuous multilinear operators.
