On the status of <i>Statice dianiae</i> Pau (<i>Plumbaginaceae</i>)

An apomictic Limonium with a single pollen-stigma combination (B type), Limonium interjectum , is proposed as a new species to replace the invalid name Statice dianiae Pau. The new species has a restricted distribution on the sea costs of eastern Spain (Alicante Province). It shows a striking morphological similarity to L. virgatum (Willd.) Fourr. and L. girardianum (Guss.) Girard; on this basis it is suggested that L. interjectum is a hybrid derived from the two species.

The Stock Market Reaction to the Enron-Andersen Affair in Spain

2Universidad Jaume I de Castellon This paper investigates whether listed Spanish companies audited by Andersen have suffered any negative economic impact due to the scandal surrounding Andersen’s work in Enron Corporation. To that end, we have measured the economic consequences, if any, of Andersen’s loss of reputation by examining the reaction in terms of movements in the stock prices of its client companies using an event study methodology. We have analysed abnormal returns on the stock prices of all firms listed in the Spanish Interconnected Market around two event dates: the date of Andersen’s public admission that it had destroyed significant financial documents related to Enron Corp. …
Second Language Interference during First Language Processing by Arabic-English Bilinguals.

The research investigated whether a bilinguals’ second language (L2) is activated during a task involving only the first language (L1). We tested the hypothesis that the amount of L2 interference can vary across settings, with less interference occurring in testing locations where L2 is rarely used. In Experiment 1, we compared language processing for 50 Arabic–English bilinguals tested in Saudi Arabia and 49 Arabic–English tested in the United States. Napisania niniejszego artykułu podjęto się z uwagi na istniejący od czasu wprowadzenia ustawy o dozorze elektronicznym (2007 r.) problem stosowania kary pozbawienia wolności w systemie dozoru elektronicznego w praktyce. W Polsce z systemu dozoru elektronicznego korzysta obecnie jedynie około 30% całkowitej przewidzianej do odbywania kary w ten sposób liczby skazanych. Pomimo funkcjonowania od 12 lat ustawa wciąż wymaga poprawek. Za podstawowe dwa problemy uznaje się dużą liczbę odrzuconych wniosków o zastosowanie dozoru elektronicznego (w tym również umorzonych postępowań) oraz wnioskowy charakter tego systemu. Autorka zaprezentowała problematykę zastosowania arteterapii w oddziaływaniach resocjalizacyjnych w kontekście trzech grup opinii: pracowników służby więziennej odbywających szkolenia z zakresu arteterapii, skazanych uczestniczących w zajęciach arteterapeutycznych w zakładach karnych, a także studentów kierunku pedagogika resocjalizacyjna, którzy przygotowując się do wykonywania zawodu, mają możliwość podczas studiów nabyć wiedzę i doświadczenie dotyczące możliwości zastosowania arteterapii w projektowaniu działań resocjalizacyjnych dla osób nieprzystosowanych społecznie. Całość dopełniają doniesienia z badań znanych polskich naukowców.
