Stereocontrolled synthesis of fluorine-containing piperidine γ-amino acid derivatives

An efficient synthetic approach for the construction of fluorine‐containing piperidine γ‐amino acid derivatives has been developed. The synthetic concept was based on oxidative ring opening of an unsaturated bicyclic γ‐lactam (Vince‐lactam) through its ring C=C bond, followed by double reductive amination of the diformyl intermediate performed with various fluoroalkylamines. The method has been extended towards the access of alkylated and perfluoroalkylated substances and for γ‐lactam derivatives. Robustifying principal component analysis with spatial sign vectors

In this paper, we apply orthogonally equivariant spatial sign covariance matrices as well as their affine equivariant counterparts in principal component analysis. The influence functions and asymptotic covariance matrices of eigenvectors based on robust covariance estimators are derived in order to compare the robustness and efficiency properties. We show in particular that the estimators that use pairwise differences of the observed data have very good efficiency properties, providing practical robust alternatives to classical sample covariance matrix based methods. peerReviewed

Analysis of the total β-electron spectrum of 92Rb : Implications for the reactor flux anomalies

We present here a microscopic nuclear-structure calculation of a β-electron spectrum including all the β-decay branches of a high Q-value reactor fission product contributing significantly to the reactor antineutrino energy spectrum. We perform large-scale nuclear shell-model calculations of the total electron spectrum for the β− decay of 92Rb to states in 92Sr using a computer cluster. We exploit the β-branching data of a recent total absorption γ-ray spectroscopy (TAGS) measurement to determine the effective values of the weak axial-vector coupling, gA, and the weak axial charge, gA(γ5). Epilepsy in neuropathologically verified Alzheimer's disease

Purpose Subjects with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have been shown to be at a higher risk for epilepsy. The vast majority of the previous studies have not included a full neuropathological examination. Methods The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of epilepsy and clinicopathological characteristics in a well-defined study group of 64 subjects with AD. We evaluated the clinicopathological findings in 64 subjects (mean age at death 85 ± 8.6 years) from a longitudi-nal study cohort of patients with dementia. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan psykoterapiaa kehollisena kohtaamisena ja kokemuksena. Artikkelissa esitellään tutkimustuloksia psykoterapian aikaisesta sanattomasta vuorovaikutuksesta ja pohditaan kehollisuuden merkitystä psykoterapiassa. Artikkelin pääsanoma on, että sanaton vuorovaikutus on keskeistä psykoterapiassa ja terapeutin tulee tiedostaa oma osallisuutensa sanattoman yhteistyösuhteen muodostumisessa. Terapeutin sanaton viestintä vaikuttaa empatian välittymiseen ja mahdollisesti jopa terapian vaikuttavuuteen. This special issue brings together empirical studies that investigate how bodily practices feature in action formation and action ascription in multilingual interaction (Schegloff, 2007; Levinson, 2013). Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan opiskelijaryhmän työskentelyä ryhmän kirjoittamien pöy-täkirjojen sekä tutkijoiden omien kokemusten pohjalta. Huomiota kiinnitetään erityisesti ryhmän tiedostamattomaan puoleen, pyrkimyksenä löytää merkityksiä ryhmän toiminnalle ja tätä kautta selityksiä, miksi ryhmän on ollut vaikea toimia perustehtävänsä mukaisesti. Tutkimus keskittyy tarkastelemaan ryhmän toimintaa psykodynaamisen ryhmäajatteluteorian pohjalta.
