New insights into the gut microbiome in loggerhead sea turtles Caretta caretta stranded on the Mediterranean coast

2019

Caretta caretta is the most common sea turtle species in the Mediterranean Sea. The species is threatened by anthropomorphic activity that causes thousands of deaths and hundreds of strandings along the Mediterranean coast. Stranded turtles are often cared for in rehabilitation centres until they recover or die. The objective of this study was to characterize the gut microbiome of nine sea turtles stranded along the Sicilian coast of the Mediterranean Sea using high-throughput sequencing analysis targeting V3–V4 regions of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene. Stool samples were collected from eight specimens hosted in the recovery centre after a few days of hospitalization (under 7) and from one ho…

Dataset of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in a Mediterranean coastal wetland

2021

The dataset provides information on Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) detected in the Albufera Natural Park (Valencia, Spain), a typical Mediterranean coastal wetland. These PPCPs constitute an important group of organic pollutants highly representative of the human impact. The concentrations values measured in soil, sediment and water and the statistical relationship of contaminants between them and with the environmental parameters could help to understand their fate in different compartments. The data also reported the occurrence and removal efficiency (%) for each contaminant in ten wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), located in the surrounding area. This dataset could …

CD28, a marker associated with tumoral expansion in multiple myeloma

1998

International audience; CD28 expression was thoroughly investigated on plasma cells of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, multiple myeloma (MM), and human myeloma cell lines. CD28+ plasma cells were detected in 19% of 31 monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, 41% of 116 MM, and 100% of 13 human myeloma cell lines. CD28+ myeloma cells were detected in 21 of 79 (26%) MM cases at diagnosis, 13 of 22 (59%) at medullary relapse (P < 0.009), and 14 of 15 (93%) at extramedullary relapse (P = 0.05), including 10 of 10 (100%) secondary plasma cell leukemias (P = 0.05). Serial studies in individual patients confirmed the emergence of CD28+ myeloma cells with tumoral expa…

Psychological support and psychotherapy via digital devices in Covid-19 emergency time: Some critical issues

2020

The Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting fear, quarantine and lockdown measures implemented in Italy and other countries to contain the risk of contagion have seriously impacted the mental health of a large number of people. The need to offer psychological and psychotherapeutic support to these people, while respecting the government’s pressing calls to “stay home”, have led many psychologists and psychotherapists, both in the public and private sectors, to provide their professional services via teleconference, telephone, smartphone, etc. The aim of this work is to highlight some critical issues related to the sudden switch from the traditional method of providing psychological services to…

[Aquabis(nitrato-κO)copper(II)]-μ-{bis[5-methyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]selenide}-[diaqua(nitrato-κO)copper(II)] nitrate monohydrate

2012

In the title binuclear complex, [Cu2(NO3)3(C18H16N6Se)(H2O)3]NO3·H2O, the Cu(II) ions are penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry. In both cases, the equatorial planes are formed by a chelating pyrazole-pyridine group, a water mol-ecule and a nitrate O atom, whereas the apical positions are occupied by a water mol-ecule for one Cu(II) ion and a nitrate O atom for the other. The organic selenide ligand adopts a trans configuration with respect to the C-Se-C plane. Numerous inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinating and lattice water mol-ecules, nitrate anions and pyrazole groups are observed. π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings [av…

[(1R,4S)-(+)-3-Benzoyl-1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-olato-κ2 O 2,O 3](η4-norbornadiene)rhodium(I)

2010

In the title complex mol-ecule, [Rh(C(17)H(19)O(2))(C(7)H(8))], the rhodium(I) metal centre is coordinated by the O atoms of a benzoyl-camphorate anion and the C=C bonds of the norbornadiene mol-ecule into a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The six-membered chelate ring is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0378 Å) and forms a dihedral angle of 31.67 (11)° with the phenyl ring.
