This paper examines how Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) - an early incarnation of a multinational enterprise (MNE) - developed its image as an international company. In particular, we examine how the company developed and managed potentially conflicting narratives, including the modernising US company and the airline of 'the Americas' (specifically South America); the carrier of US national interests and the politically neutral actor serving to unify cultures; the purveyor of exotic experiences and the pioneer of modernism. Barriers to export: the power of organisational factors

Abstract The concept of global strategy has become prominent in the international business and management literature in the 1980s. The aims of our paper are to render in brief the concept of global strategy and to highlight some of the main features of Nissan's strategy. Our paper contributes to a better understanding of the global strategy concept, and its designing and implementation in the business corporate world. Further studies can be carried on in emphasizing the role played by global strategies in achieving high performance in a changing environment.
Contrasting Internationalization Paths of Product- and Service-oriented Software Firms

The internationalization of software firms has been widely researched topic over the last two decades. However, the most of the studies have treated software firms as a homogeneous group, ignoring the fact that software firms actually differ greatly in terms of having either a product or a service orientation. Perspectives et bilan après 20 ans de recherche au bas de la pyramide, une étude bibliométrique pour le futur du management international

Cet article propose une analyse bibliométrique du champ des stratégies au bas de la pyramide (BoP) fondée sur 364 articles citants issus de la plateforme Web of Science fournissant une base de 15 292 références. Différents outils sont mobilisés, pour mettre en évidence la structure du champ BoP d’une part, et pour identifier les tendances du front de recherche d’autre part. Six groupes structurant le champ émergent des analyses, chacun mettant en évidence un courant de recherche, et cinq tendances rythment les recherches actuelles sur le BoP. Ces analyses permettent de proposer quatre perspectives pour le futur du management international.

This paper examines what is still a relatively new phenomenon in the literature, the outsourcing/offshoring of high-technology manufacturing and services. This has become a concern for both policy makers and academics for two reasons. This paper reports the findings of a 12-nation study designed to test empirically the relationships between societal cultural values, individual social beliefs, and the perceived effectiveness of different influence strategies. The relationships between three types of broad influence strategy (persuasive, assertive, and relationship based) and four dimensions of individual beliefs (cynicism, fate control, reward for application, and religiosity) were examined.
