Quasi-Static Displacement Self-Sensing Measurement for a 2-DOF Piezoelectric Cantilevered Actuator

This paper proposes a self-sensing measurement technique to perform the precise estimation of the displacements along two axes in a two-degrees-of-freedom (2-DOF) piezoelectric actuator. For that, a new electrical circuit scheme that permits charge amplification is first proposed to match the different electrodes combination of the 2-DOF actuator. Then, a new bivariable observer that precisely estimates the displacements is calculated and implemented experimentally in a cascade with the electrical circuit to complete the self-sensing. Robust control for high performance induction motor drives based on partial state-feedback linearization

This paper deals with a robust input-output feedback linearization control technique for induction motors. Indeed, classic feedback linearization presents two main disadvantages: 1) the accuracy of the dynamic model; and 2) the corresponding correct knowledge of the model parameters. To address this issue, the linear controller has been substituted with a suitably controller designed to be robust to the variations of the main parameters of the induction motor, like stator and rotor resistances, and the three-phase magnetizing inductance. Abstract In the paper, a numerical and experimental study was carried out to highlight the effect of the distance d between the weld seam and the reinforcement on the residual stress distribution in Friction Stir Welded AA6082-T6 structures. An L-shaped profile was welded to a sheet metal with varying tool rotation and distance d from the weld seam. The Cut Compliance method was used to determine the resulting longitudinal residual stress. Identification and control design for path tracking of hydraulic loader crane

The controlled operation of hydraulic machines with multiple degrees of freedom is challenging due to complex nonlinear dynamics of cylinder actuators, in addition to multibody dynamics like in the case of hydraulic manipulators. This paper addresses the system identification and control design for path tracking of a standard hydraulic loader crane. Enhancement of mechanical properties of FSWed AA7075 lap joints through in-situ fabrication of MMC

Abstract Friction Stir Processing (FSP) has been demonstrated feasible to create local Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) in light alloys matrix. In this research, local MMCs were produced contextually to the weld using Friction Stir Welding (FSW). SiC particles were added to AA7075 lap joints by creating a proper groove on the top surface of the bottom sheet. Different welds were produced with increasing number of tool passes. Automated handling of a natural fibrous object requires a method for acquiring the three-dimensional geometry of the object, because its dimensions cannot be known beforehand. This paper presents a method for calculating the three-dimensional reconstruction of a paper fibre on a microrobotic platform that contains two microscope cameras. The method is based on detecting curvature changes in the fibre centreline, and using them as the corresponding points between the different views of the images.
