Cultural Transfers and Literary Games : From the Mediaeval French Version of Fair Maguelonne to the Czech Version

2021

In the present thesis, we intend to study the novel Pierre de Provence et la belle Maguelonne and the translations thereof into German and Czech in greater depth than heretofore. For our corpus, we have chosen the Manuscript of Coburg, edited by R. Colliot, the German translation, made by Veit Warbeck in 1527 and edited by J. Bolte and a Czech edition from 1780, published again by J. Kolár.After presenting the novel, its origins, and selected translations reworkings, we devote a chapter to the definition of the term and the concept of play, because we are convinced that play is the principle on which the novel is constructed. In the third chapter, we propose an interpretation of the text of…

Le plaisir musical

2012

On entend souvent dire que la musique adoucit les mœurs. La musique donnerait-elle accès à un mieux être personnel et par conséquent relationnel ? Et si la musique devait conduire à cela, son apprentissage devrait-il être il à l’image de cette paix recherchée ?

Climate and agriculture: empirical evidence for countries and agroecological zones of the Sahel

2022

International audience; ow heterogenous is the impact of climate change across space and the type of agricultural production? In this paper, we investigate the relationship between climate change and variability, measured by temperature and rainfall, and agricultural production at the country and agroecological zone levels of the Sahel. We consider a crop production index and five cereals (maize, millet, sorghum, wheat and rice). Based on an original climate database and an agricultural production function estimated for the period 1961–2016, we show that average rainfall and temperature during the growing season indeed have highly heterogeneous effects on agricultural production, depending …

The Influence of Fruit Ripening Stage at Harvest and Storage Temperature on ‘Bianca di Bivona’ White Flesh Peaches

2015

‘Bianca di Bivona’ is a white-flesh peach cultivar, which ripens during the last week of July and the first of August. Its fruit are known because of their distinct flavor and aroma, which make them highly accepted, particularly in the local markets. However, nothing is known about their postharvest physiology and storage conditions. In order to investigate the effect of: (a) fruit ripening stage at harvest and, (b) storage temperatures, ‘Bianca di Bivona’ peaches were picked at mature-green, (60.0±1.3 N), and ripe stage (30.7 ± 2.1 N) determined by flesh firmness, and then stored at 0°C and 5°C (90% RH). Flesh firmness, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, weight loss and DA index, me…

Frame fungi on insulated windows.

1985

Insulated windows (fixed triple glass window elements), became common in Finland during and after the energy crisis. Moisture tends to condense along the edges causing mold growth on the frames. Nine houses with insulated glass windows and eight with other types of window were studied. Fungus samples were taken from the window edges and from the inside air and cultivated on malt extract agar. In five of the houses with insulated windows there was visible mold growth on the window edges. The predominant fungus was Aureobasidium pullulans. With other types of windows there was only one case of visible mold. The concentrations of fungi were about the same in the air of houses with both types o…

Modelling of natural synthetic polyelectrolyte interactions in natural waters by using SIT, Pitzer and Ion Pairing approaches

2006

Abstract In this paper SIT and Pitzer models are used for the first time to describe the interactions of natural and synthetic polyelectrolytes in natural waters. Measurements were made potentiometrically at 25 °C in single electrolyte media, such as Et 4 NI and NaCl (for fulvic acid 0.1  − 1 S single salt ” BA, with cation B and anion A representing all the major cations (Na + , K + , Mg 2+ , Ca 2+ ) and anions (Cl − , SO 4 2− ) in natural sea water, respectively. The ion pair formation model was also applied to fulvate and alginate in artificial sea water by examining the interaction of polyanions with the single sea water cation. Results were compared with those obtained from previous sp…

Iodine speciation in marine aerosols along a 30,000 km round-trip cruise path from Shanghai, China to Prydz Bay, Antarctica

2008

[1] Total suspended particle (TSP) samples were collected onboard a round-trip cruise from Shanghai, China to Prydz Bay, Antarctica from November 2005 to March 2006. Water soluble iodine species were measured using ion chromatography coupled to Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (IC-ICP-MS). The results reveal that soluble organic iodine (SOI) is the most abundant fraction, accounting for approximately 70 % of total soluble iodine (TSI) on average. One unidentified organic iodine (UOI) signal was present in almost all of the samples and was responsible for up to 38.3% of TSI. The abundance of inorganic iodine species, iodate and iodide, was less than 30% of TSI. Iodide was signifi…
