Synchronous Two Distinct Neuroendocrine Lung Cancer Lesions

2015

Synchroniczne nowotwory płuc są rzadką chorobą, a prezentowany przypadek to pierwszy opublikowany opis jednoczesnego wystąpienia dwóch pierwotnych neuroendokrynnych raków płuca zlokalizowanych w jednym płacie.

H(II) centers in natural silica under repeated UV laser irradiations

2004

We investigated the kinetics of H(II) centers (=Ge'-H) in natural silica under repeated 266nm UV irradiations performed by a Nd:YAG pulsed laser. UV photons temporarily destroy these paramagnetic defects, their reduction being complete within 250 pulses. After re-irradiation, H(II) centers grow again, and the observed recovery kinetics depends on the irradiation dose; multiple 2000 pulses re-irradiations induce the same post-irradiation kinetics of H(II) centers after each exposure cycle. The analysis of these effects allows us to achieve a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the centers during and after laser irradiation.

Study of localized pulsed laser depassivation by interferometric probe

1997

Optical interferometry has been implemented as a novel approach to monitor sensitively the localized pulsed laser depassivation of iron or stainless steel samples. This new method, complementing the previous transient current measurements and channel flow double-electrode, is based on the time-resolved measurement of the rear surface displacement of the test sample induced by the laser generated ultrasonic wave. The removal of any material, such as the passive film, from the irradiated surface results in an enhancement of the longitudinal component of the laser generated ultrasonic wave, which is manifested in a change of the displacement characteristics of the rear surface of the test samp…

Applied multi-pulsed laser in surface treatment and numerical–experimental analysis

2011

International audience; This paper presents a comparison between simulation and experimental results of the melting process of metallic material by a pulsed laser source Nd–YAG. The simulations of temperature and velocity fields of melted material were done by solving the transient heat transfer and fluid-flow equations. Variations of the thermophysical properties were considered. Furthermore, the model included the effects of the surface-tension gradient on the fluid surface and the buoyancy force. The simulation was useful in improving our understanding of the phenomena occurring in the treated material. Using a laser triangulation sensor, an experimental study was also conducted on the s…

Radiation processes in oxygen-deficient silica glasses: Is ODC(I) a precursor of E′-center?

2006

Abstract The accumulation of radiation-induced defects under non-destructive X-ray and destructive cathodoexcitation was studied in pure silica KS-4V glasses possessing an absorption band at 7.6 eV. The correspondence between the existence of this band and the creation of the E′-center by radiation was checked. Detection of induced defects was accomplished by measurement of the luminescence during irradiation, post irradiation afterglow or phosphorescence, induced optical absorption, and thermally stimulated luminescence. In all samples, these observed phenomena associated with charge trapping and recombination on the oxygen-deficient luminescence center. Others centers of luminescence were…

Photoluminescence in gamma-irradiated alpha-quartz investigated by synchrotron radiation

2004

Abstract We report an experimental investigation of the photoluminescence, under excitation by synchrotron radiation within the absorption band at 7.6 eV , induced in γ-irradiated α-quartz. Two emissions centered at 4.9 and 2.7 eV are observed at low temperature: the former decreases above 40 K , whereas the second band exhibits an initial slight increase and its quenching is effective above 100 K . Furthermore, the decay kinetics of both emissions occur in a time scale of nanoseconds: at T=17.5 K we measured a lifetime τ∼1.0 ns for the photoluminescence at 4.9 eV and τ∼3.6 ns for that at 2.7 eV . These results give new insight on the optical properties associated with defects peculiar of c…

Displacement Defect Formation in Complex Oxide Crystals under Irradiation

2000

The work is devoted to an analysis of formation processes of the radiation displacement defects (RDDs) and colour centres (CCs) in complex oxide crystals under irradiation. The calculation results on: the displacement process simulation as well as an analysis of the RDD and CC accumulation kinetics are presented. New experimental results on additional absorption spectra induced by neutron irradiation of LiNbO(3) (LNO) crystals doped with Fe and Cr and YAlO(3) (YAP) crystals doped with Nd and Er as well are presented. Dose dependencies of the additional absorption are compared and their peculiarities are discussed. The obtained results confirm that CCs causing the irradiation induced absorpt…

Relationship between erythemal UV and broadband solar irradiation at high altitude in Northwestern Argentina

2018

An analysis of the broadband solar irradiation, IT, and the erythemal UV irradiation, IUVER, has been performed using the measurements made from 2013 to 2015 at three sites located at altitudes over 1000 m a.s.l. In Northwestern Argentina (Salta, El Rosal, and Tolar Grande). The main objective of this paper is to determine a relationship between IT and IUVER, which would allow to estimate IUVER from IT in places with few IUVER measurements available, and especially in those where is important to establish adequate photoprotection measures given their dense population and location at high altitude. The relationship between the daily values of IUVER and IT has been fitted to a linear regressi…

Radiation effects in nitride read-only memories

2010

Abstract We report on the influence of different types of radiation on the nitride read-only memories (NROM®). The memory cells were irradiated by light ions (Boron), X-rays and γ-rays. Memory transistor parameters, such as threshold voltage and subthreshold drain leakage were studied as a function of the accumulated radiation dose and compared to the as-programmed (-erased) devices parameters. Their time evolution was registered in the range from few hours up to 5 months after the irradiation. The NROM® cells showed good radiation robustness up to high accumulated doses. Sufficient program margin (difference of threshold voltage in the programmed state and the read-out voltage level) remai…
