Recent reports have claimed a superior performance of HEPES buffer in comparison to alternative buffer systems for 67/68 Ga labeling in aqueous media. In this paper we report spectroscopic (1H and 71 Ga NMR), radiochemical, mass spectrometry and theoretical modeling studies on the Ga3+/HEPES system (HEPES = N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazine-N′-2-ethanesulfonic acid) performed with the aim of elucidating a potential contribution of HEPES in the 68/67 Ga radiolabeling process. Our results demonstrate that HEPES acts as a weakly but competitive chelator of Ga3+ and that this interaction depends on the relative Ga3+: HEPES concentration. Trace detection of plutonium by three-step photoionization with a laser system pumped by a copper vapor laser

Laser photoionization has been used to detect trace amounts of plutonium. A high sensitivity and selectivity has been achieved by applying three-step excitation and ionization of the plutonium atoms with high pulse-repetition rates and additional mass determination by time-of-flight measurements. A laser system was developed which consists of a copper vapor laser pumping three dye lasers simultaneously. Samples containing between 1010 and 1012 atoms of239Pu on Re filaments were measured yielding strong resonance signals with maximum ion count rates of several kHz at a vanishingly low background. Carbon and other volatiles in the form of gases, fluids or mineral phases are transported from Earth's surface into the mantle at convergent margins, where the oceanic crust subducts beneath the continental crust. The efficiency of this transfer has profound implications for the nature and scale of geochemical heterogeneities in Earth's deep mantle and shallow crustal reservoirs, as well as Earth's oxidation state. However, the proportions of volatiles released from the forearc and backarc are not well constrained compared to fluxes from the volcanic arc front. Antimony-121 Mössbauer spectra of organoantimony derivatives containing Sb-Sb bonds

121-Sb Mossbauer data are reported for a number of organoantimony rings and catena-stibanes. These compounds are representative of RSb(Sb)2 and R2SbSb type of coordination, and spectral parameters are compared and discussed in relation to RSbCl2 and R2SbCl systems. Although the trend in isomer shift is similar, the present compounds show slightly less negative isomer shift values together with a remarkable reduction of the quadrupolar coupling constant. A rationalization of the quadrupolar interaction in the above series of compounds appears feasible by using point charge model calculations whose results, in terms of bonding, indicate a large contribution of p-electron density along Sb-Sb b…
Nuclear Spins of the IsomersHg191m−185mDetermined by On-Line Quantum-Beat Spectroscopy

The nuclear spins of the very neutron-deficient $^{191m\ensuremath{-}185m}\mathrm{Hg}$ isomers were measured on line at the mass separator ISO LIDE at CERN using pulsed-laser excitation and observation of the time-resolved quantum beats from selected hyperfine-structure states. The spins of these isomers are with $I=\frac{13}{2}$ equal to those of the long-lived isomers $^{199m\ensuremath{-}193m}\mathrm{Hg}$ already known. The persistence of this spin value for eight isomers is explained by the model of rotation-aligned coupling.
Absence of structure in the $^{20,22}$Ne + $^{118}$Sn quasi-elastic barrier distribution

Abstract Motivated by the extreme deformation parameters of the projectile, we have measured quasi-elastic scattering for 20 Ne + 118 Sn. In contrast to calculations based on known collective states, the experimental barrier distribution is structureless. A comparison with the system 22 Ne + 118 Sn shows that this smoothing is unlikely to be due to nucleon- or α -transfer channels, and is more likely to be due to coupling to many other weak channels.

The yrast band, which isbased upon a πg−19/2 ⊗ νh11/2 configuration, has been extended to I π = (22−). A new I = 1 band has been identified whichresides ∼ 300 keV above the yrast band. Core–quasiparticle coupling model calculations show reasonably good agreement withthe data. The properties of the two pairs of strongly coupled bands are consistent with a chiral interpretation for these states. 2…

Abstract The Khetri region forms a late Palaeoproterozoic igneous–metamorphic complex in NE Rajasthan, India. Seven granitoid plutons of the Khetri complex have been studied for zircon U–Pb and Pb–Pb dating along with whole-rock and Nd–Sr isotope geochemistry to provide new constraints on the Palaeoproterozoic magmatic activity in the Aravalli orogen of northwestern India. Most intrusives show evidence of moderate to extreme albitisation forming microcline–albite granite and albite granite, respectively. Abstract Curcumin metal complexes showed widespread applications in medicine and can be exploited as a lead structure for developing new tracers for nuclear medicine application. Herein, the synthesis, chemical characterization and radiolabelling with gallium-68 and scandium-44 of two new targeting vectors based on curcumin scaffolds and linked to the chelators 1,4,7-triazacyclononane,1-glutaric acid-4,7-acetic acid (NODAGA) and 1,4-bis(carboxymethyl)-6-[bis(carboxymethyl)]amino-6-methylperhydro-1,4-diazepine (AAZTA) are reported.
