Resistive switching behaviour in ZnO and VO 2 memristors grown by pulsed laser deposition

The resistive switching behaviour observed in microscale memristors based on laser ablated ZnO and VO 2 is reported. A comparison between the two materials is reported against an active device size. The results show that devices up to 300 × 300 μm 2 exhibit a memristive behaviour regardless of the device size, and 100 × 100 μm 2 ZnO-based memristors have the best resistance off/on ratio.

A Geometric Approach to Automatic Description of Iconic Scenes

It is proposed a step towards the automatic description of scenes with a geometric approach. The scenes considered are composed by a set of elements that can be geometric forms or iconic representation of objects. Every icon is characterized by a set of attributes like shape, colour, position, orientation. Each scene is related to a set of sentences describing its content. The proposed approach builds a data driven vector semantic space where the scenes and the sentences are mapped. Sentences and scene with the same meaning are mapped in near vectors and distance criteria allow retrieving semantic relations.

The Mediterranean Sea acts as a miniature ocean with the development of its own conveyor belt. It constitutes an ideal location to study and forecast how the marine environment responds to rapid climatic change. Here we present a palaeoenvironmental study carried out on the sediments of ODP Site 963, recovered in the Sicily Channel, the sill which divides the western from the eastern Mediterranean basin. Abstract Purpose To evaluate the effectiveness of a perfluorocarbon—perfluorohexyloctane (PFHO)—in removing silicone oil from different intraocular lenses (IOLs) and determine whether any removal technique enhances the removal of silicone oil. Methods Six IOL materials were analyzed: standard poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), heparin-surface-modified (HSM) PMMA, AcrySof, 2 polyHEMAs with different water contents, and a second-generation SLM-2 silicone. One or 2 μL of a highly viscous silicone oil (5700 cs) was applied to the center of each IOL optic. Bene : Adverb or noun?

International audience; When Italian bene ‘good / well’ occurs with fare ‘do / make’, several constructs with remarkably different argument frames are involved. This paper deals with three of them: (a) Il latte fa bene ai bambini ‘Milk is good for children’; (b) Fa bene il suo lavoro ‘She does her job well’, and (c) Faresti bene a non dire niente ‘You would do well to say nothing about it’. We discuss dictionary discrepancies concerning the lexical category of 'bene' in (a), which we take to be a noun predicate, and draw a distinction between the adverbial uses in (b) and (c).
