Presence and coding properties of 2'-O-methyl-5-carbamoylmethyluridine (ncm5Um) in the wobble position of the anticodon of tRNA(Leu) (U*AA) from brew…
1992
AbstractThe unknown modified nucleoside U* has been isolated by enzymatic and HPLC protocols from tRNALeu(U*AA) recently discovered in brewer's yeast. The pure U* nucleoside has been characterized by electron impact mass spectroscopy, and comparison of its chromatographic and UV-absorption properties with those of appropriate synthetic compounds. The structure of U* was established as 2′-O-methyl-5-carbamoylmethyluridine (ncm5Um). The yeast tRNALeu (U*AA) is the only tRNA so far sequenced which has been shown to contain ncm5Um. The location of such a modified uridine at the first position of the anticodon restricts the decoding property to A of the leucine UUA codon.
Model Identification of a Network as Compressing Sensing
2013
In many applications, it is important to derive information about the topology and the internal connections of dynamical systems interacting together. Examples can be found in fields as diverse as Economics, Neuroscience and Biochemistry. The paper deals with the problem of deriving a descriptive model of a network, collecting the node outputs as time series with no use of a priori insight on the topology, and unveiling an unknown structure as the estimate of a "sparse Wiener filter". A geometric interpretation of the problem in a pre-Hilbert space for wide-sense stochastic processes is provided. We cast the problem as the optimization of a cost function where a set of parameters are used t…
Choosing Who You Are: The Structure and Behavioral Effects of Revealed Identification Preferences
2017
Differences in individuals’ social identity have recently been shown to explain differences in behavior. But where do differences in social identity come from? Theory claims that identification allows people to affect their social identity by choosing who they are. Accordingly, this paper treats social identity as a choice and analyzes its behavioral effects. We find identification to be systematically related to behavioral heterogeneity in group-specific social preferences. In a first step, we measure identification preferences using a revealed preference approach in a laboratory experiment. Confirming social identity theory, participants reveal a stronger identification preference for gro…
Evolution of fermenting microbiota in tarhana produced under controlled technological conditions
2011
PubMedID: 21839387 The purpose of this study was to evaluate the evolution of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts during the fermentation of tarhana produced with some pasteurised ingredients and carried out at 30 and 40 °C. The chemical parameters were those typical for tarhana production. Coliform bacteria were not detected during fermentation, while LAB and yeasts were in the range 10 7-10 8 colony forming units (CFU) g -1. Plate counts showed an optimal development of both fermenting microbial groups and the differences in cell concentrations were not significant (P > 0.05). LAB were isolated during fermentation and grouped on the basis of phenotypic and polymorphic characteristics…
Isolation frequency and efficiency of mycoparasitic Pythium species in the West Mediterranean region of Turkey
2021
Abstract A total of 132 mycoparasitic Pythium isolates were obtained from the soil samples taken from fruit orchards, vegetable fields, carnation greenhouses, sugarbeet fields and cereal fields in the West Mediterranean region of Turkey. The Oomycetes were isolated by using; surface soil dilution plate, sclerotia bait and precolonised plate methods. Isolates were identified as P. acanthophoron, P. amasculinum, P. lycopersicum, P. oligandrum, P. periplocum and P. paroecandrum, according to their morphological and molecular characteristics. The most commonly isolated mycoparasitic species were P. amasculinum and P. lycopersicum. The majority of the mycoparasites came from soil samples taken f…
Analytical tools used for the identification and quantification of pectin extracted from plant food matrices, wastes and by-products: A review
2018
Pectin is the methylated ester of polygalacturonic acid and has a wide range of applications. It can be used in food and animal feed as well as in pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Pectin is traditionally used as a gelling agent in fruit-based products, as a stabilizer in some fruit juices and milk drinks and fruit filling for bakery and confectionary products, but their potential applications differ according to their chemical composition. Therefore, at this stage of development, it is of a great importance to find fast, reliable methods to not only identify and quantify pectin, but also to determine its chemical structure and composition when it is extracted from plant matrices, waste…
Chaînage de bases de données anonymisées pour les études épidémiologiques multicentriques nationales et internationales : proposition d'un algorithme…
2009
Background: Compiling individual records coming from different sources is very important for multicenter epidemiological studies; however, European directives and other national legislation concerning nominal data processing must be respected. These legal aspects can be satisfied by implementing mechanisms that allow anonymization of patient data (such as hashing techniques). Moreover, for security reasons, official recommendations suggest using different cryptographic keys in combination with a cryptographic hash function for each study. Unfortunately, this type of anonymization procedure is in contradiction with common requirements in public health and biomedical research because it becom…
Impact de la proximité identitaire « publics-musée d'art » sur la fréquentation des lieux culturels : le cas des musées d’art
2017
The value that individuals attach to a cultural object can be explained, among other things, by their identity project of belonging to a group. This thesis proposes new strategic orientations for museums that increase museum attendance, change the relationship of the art museum with the public and attract other individuals. This research allowed the conceptualization of the proximity of the "public-art museum" identity, the confirmation of its dimensions and antecedents, and finally the analysis of the relationship between the "public-art museum" identity proximity and the art museum attendance. Moreover, the development of a "public-art museum" identity proximity scale, offers to broaden th…
MEDICIÓN DE LA IMAGEN DE LA UNIVERSIDAD Y SUS EFECTOS SOBRE LA IDENTIFICACIÓN Y LEALTAD DEL EGRESADO: UNA APROXIMACIÓN DESDE EL MODELO DE BEERLI Y DÍ…
2012
