AbstractBackgroundA recent genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified 12 independent loci significantly associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Polygenic risk scores (PRS), derived from the GWAS, can be used to assess genetic overlap between ADHD and other traits. Using ADHD samples from several international sites, we derived PRS for ADHD from the recent GWAS to test whether genetic variants that contribute to ADHD also influence two cognitive functions that show strong association with ADHD: attention regulation and response inhibition, captured by reaction time variability (RTV) and commission errors (CE).MethodsThe discovery GWAS included 19 099 ADHD cases …

The child's right to play is specifically addressed in the framework of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The international recognition of this right is the central theme of this study. Through a documentary analysis of the reports of the States Parties to the Convention and the Concluding Observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, the study assesses the recognition of this right. Teorētiskajā daļā ir analizēta literatūra par zīdaiņu ar iedzimtām patoloģijām sejas-žokļu rajonā ēdināšanas īpatnībām. Darbs analizēts saistībā ar Kari Martinsenas un Betijas Ņūmenas māszinību teorijām. Praktiskajā daļā ir aprakstīta pētījuma gaita un analizēti iegūtie rezultāti. Heparan sulfate levels in mucopolysaccharidoses and mucolipidoses.

Glycosaminoglycans are accumulated in both mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) and mucolipidoses (ML). MPS I, II, III and VII and ML II and ML III patients cannot properly degrade heparan sulphate (HS). In spite of the importance of HS storage in the metabolic pathway in these diseases, blood and urine HS levels have not been determined systematically using a simple and economical method. Using a new ELISA method using anti-HS antibodies, HS concentrations in blood and urine were determined in MPS and ML II and ML III patients. Systemic candidiasis developed in a seven-week-old premature baby after 6 weeks treatment with antibiotics for suspected septicemia. At that time the echocardiogram showed a dense layer of echoes posteriorly to the anterior tricuspid leaflet during atrial systole. The diagnosis of Candida endocarditis with vegetations on the tricuspid valve and with right atrial thrombus secondary to the Candida infection was verified by autopsy.

Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valoda uz 47 lapām. Tas satur 28 attēlus, 2 tabulas un 42 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Maģistra darba mērķis ir nodemonstrēt optometrisko rehabilitācijas metožu ietekmi uz infantilu idiopātisko nistagmu (IIN). Desmit pacientiem ar IIN (30 ± 14 g.) tika veiktas sekojošas ārstēšanas metodes: prizmas ar bāzi uz āru, krāsotas kontaktlēcas (zīlītes diametrs 5 mm), audio-biofīdbeka metode. Pirms un pēc ārstēšanas tika novērtēts redzes asums un kontrastredze tālumā un stereoredze tuvumā ar labāko subjektīvo korekciju, nistagma apmlitūda un frekvence. How can we implement infants’ cultural rights? Is there even reason to confer such rights to non-speaking children, or is it enough that we recognise slightly older children as culturally active individuals? Acknowledging children’s intellectual capacities and their right to be heard in matters that concern them are important threads in research on children and ideals of childrearing during the last hundred years. This development is parallel with the one leading from the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1923 to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
