Chemometric determination of lipidic parameters in serum using ATR measurements of dry films of solvent extracts
2013
Attenuated total reflectance (ATR) infrared spectroscopy of dried organic extracts of serum samples has been evaluated as a fast method for the determination of triglycerides, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL). After careful selection of solvents based on green parameters, serum samples were extracted using hexane-isopropanol and ethyl acetate-ethanol mixtures. Microscopy studies and comparison with standard spectra were performed in order to investigate whether the proposed methodology is suitable for the quantification of lipids in serum samples. The results of these preliminary studies confirmed that the variations in the IR spectra of sample e…
Capillary electrokinetic fractionation mass spectrometry (CEkF/MS): Technology setup and application to metabolite fractionation from complex samples…
2014
Capillary electrokinetic fractionation (CEkF) is investigated as a new, simple, and robust approach for semipreparative and analytical sample analysis based on pKa -dependant pH-driven electrophoretic mobility. CEkF was optimized with contactless conductivity detection and conducted with 10 kV reverse voltage for 10 min, then coupled on/at-line to ESI/MS. We propose a semi-empirical model with 14 representative compounds based on the correlation between sample/medium pH regulating the partial charge, the electrokinetic loading of the capillary and intensity (I) of analytes. According to the model, an empirical function (I = f (pH)) could be derived to calculate the acid dissociation constan…
A solid colorimetric sensor for the analysis of amphetamine-like street samples.
2016
A solid sensor obtained by embedding 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate (NQS) into polydimethylsiloxane/tetraethylortosilicate/silicon dioxide nanoparticles composite has been developed to identify and determine amphetamine (AMP), methamphetamine (MAMP), 3,4-methylenedioxymetamphetamine (MDMA) and 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA). The analytes are derivatized inside the composite for 10 min to create a colored product which can be then quantified by measuring the diffuse reflectance or the color intensity after processing the digitalized image. Satisfactory limits of detection (0.002–0.005 g mL−1) and relative standard deviations (<10%) have been achieved. The proposed kit has been successfu…
Determination of biochemical parameters in human serum by near-infrared spectroscopy
2014
NIR offers multiple advantages for serum analysis, permitting a fast and direct determination of several parameters simultaneously, with low sample handling and without the need for reagents during the measurement step. The aim of this paper was to provide an evaluation of this technique in a real world scale, for the simultaneous determination of several parameters and based on a considerable number of samples. Direct near infrared (NIR) absorbance measurements were used to determine the concentration of clinical parameters in human serum that are required in routine biochemical tests. Total protein, albumin, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL cholesterol), low-density lipopr…
New insights in the formation of silanol defects in silicalite-1 by water intrusion under high pressure.
2010
International audience; The "water-silicalite-1" system is known to act as a molecular spring. The successive intrusion-extrusion cycles of liquid water in small crystallites (6 × 3 × 0.5 μm(3)) of hydrophobic silicalite-1 were studied by volumetric and calorimetric techniques. The experiments displayed a decrease of the intrusion pressure between the first intrusion-extrusion cycle and the consecutive ones, whereas the extrusion pressures remained unchanged. However, neither XRD studies nor SEM observations revealed any structural and morphological modifications of silicalite-1 at the long-range order. Such a shift in the value of the intrusion pressure after the first water intrusion-extr…
First signals of electrochemically oxidized species of TTF and TMT-TTF : a study by in situ spectroelectrochemical FTIR and DFT calculations
2003
A first study by in situ FTIR spectroelectrochemistry of TTF and TTM-TTF has been undertaken. The oxidation, in this case, is caused only by electrochemistry, which constitutes a clear advantage over chemical oxidation since no side products are present in the solution. In this context, we obtained the signals of neutral, radical cation, and dication species of TTF and TTM-TTF. The experimental conditions were chosen in order to avoid the possible formation of π-dimer species and to obtain a satisfactory signal-to-noise ratio. A weak signal was detected for TTF and a stronger one for TTM-TTF. The changes induced by the oxidation process in the IR spectra of TTF and TTM-TTF have been analyze…
Stimulated Raman and Cars Spectroscopy of ν1 and 2ν2 (A1) Bands of 12CF4
1994
Two experimental coherent Raman techniques, stimulated Raman and coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS), were employed to study the Raman spectrum of CF 4 in the 900 cm −1 region. The stimulated Raman and CARS spectra of the ν 1 band of CF 4 were recorded at high resolution. The analysis of these spectra enabled some spectroscopic constants of this band to be refined and higher order constants to be determined for the first time. The first high-resolution CARS spectrum of the 2ν 2 (A 1 ) harmonic band is also presented. The rotational transitions of this band up to J = 40 were assigned and the first set of spectroscopic constants for this sub-level were determined. These results imp…
Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier transform infrared analysis of the fermentation process of pineapple
2005
Abstract A direct and reagent free procedure has been developed to monitor the fermentation process of pine apple nectar using Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier-transform mid-infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) and multivariate analysis. A classical 4 2 design for standards was employed for calibration using the information in the spectral range from 907 to 1531 cm −1 of the first order derivative spectra after mean centering of infrared data. The root mean square error of calibration (RMSEC) of 0.040, 0.021, 0.063 and 0.074% w/w were obtained for glucose, fructose, saccharose and ethanol, respectively, and a mean relative validation error of 2.9, 2.1, 2.6 and 3.6% was achieved for glucose, fr…
Cubic smoothing splines background correction in on-line liquid chromatography–Fourier transform infrared spectrometry
2010
A background correction method for the on-line coupling of gradient liquid chromatography and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (LC-FTIR) is proposed. The developed approach applies univariate background correction to each variable (i.e. each wave number) individually. Spectra measured in the region before and after each peak cluster are used as knots to model the variation of the eluent absorption intensity with time using cubic smoothing splines (CSS) functions. The new approach has been successfully tested on simulated as well as on real data sets obtained from injections of standard mixtures of polyethylene glycols with four different molecular weights in methanol:water, 2-propano…
Photoactivity of Nanostructured TiO2 Catalysts in Aqueous System and their Surface Acid-Base, Bulk and Textural Properties
2007
This work reports on the characterisation and determintion of the photocatalytic activity of some TiO2 catalysts prepared using TiCl4 as precursor. The samples, consisting of suspensions, dispersions or powders of nanonstructured anatase or rutile phases, were obtained in very mild conditions, i.e., by boiling the solution obtained after hydrolysis of TiCl4 at atmospheric pressure: it is worth noting that no calcination was necessary to obtain photoactive phases. The samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), determination of the BET specific surface area (SSA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). FT-IR spectroscopy was use…
