Graphitically encapsulated cobalt nanocrystal assemblies
2010
Graphitically encapsulated cobalt nanocrystal assemblies are chemically prepared by one-pot reaction at380 degrees C followed by a reversed etching process to produce porous graphitic structure for revealing their self-assembling nature.
[35] Determination of oxidized glutathione in blood: High-performance liquid chromatography
1994
Publisher Summary The measurement of glutathione status is important in determining oxidative stress in tissues and biological fluids. The ratio of reduced to oxidized glutathione (GSH/GSSG) is a good indicator of the oxidative stress that may occur under physiological and pathological conditions. Changes in GSSG levels have been considered as intracellular signals able to modulate enzyme activity. Thus, it is important to have accurate methods to determine GSSG in biological fluids and in cells. In many cases, it is possible to use tissues, such as liver, muscle, or brain to determine GSH/GSSG. However, especially in human studies, samples from these tissues are not readily available; the …
(Z)-1-Chloro-1-[2-(2-nitrophenyl)hydrazinylidene]propan-2-one
2012
The title molecule, C9H8ClN3O3, lies on a mirror plane. Intramolecular N—H...O and N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds occur. One of the nitro O atoms is disordered (site occupancy ratio = 0.40:0.10).
Combined NC-AFM and DFT study of the adsorption geometry of trimesic acid on rutile TiO2(110)
2010
The adsorption behavior of trimesic acid (TMA) on rutile TiO(2)(110) is studied by means of non-contact atomic force microscopy (NC-AFM) and density-functional theory (DFT). Upon low-coverage adsorption at room temperature, NC-AFM imaging reveals individual molecules, centered above the surface titanium rows. Based on the NC-AFM results alone it is difficult to deduce whether the molecules are lying flat or standing upright on the surface. To elucidate the detailed adsorption geometry, we perform DFT calculations, considering a large number of different adsorption positions. Our DFT calculations suggest that single TMA molecules adsorb with the benzene ring parallel to the surface plane. In…
Cocrystal trimorphism as a consequence of the orthogonality of halogen- and hydrogen-bonds synthons.
2019
True trimorphic cocrystals, i.e. multi-component molecular crystals of identical composition that exhibit three polymorphic structures, are exceedingly rare and so far no halogen-bonded cocrystal system has been reported to exhibit trimorphism. Here we describe a unique example of a trimorphic cocrystal exhibiting both hydrogen and halogen bonds in which the differences between polymorphs reveal their orthogonality, evident by the apparently independent variation of well-defined hydrogen- and halogen-bonded motifs. peerReviewed
The enrichment ratio of atomic contacts in crystals, an indicator derived from the Hirshfeld surface analysis
2014
An enrichment ratio is derived from the decomposition of the crystal contact surface between pairs of interacting chemical species. The propensity of different contact types to form is investigated.
Micro-scale post-fire surface cover changes monitored using high spatial resolution photography in a semiarid environment: A useful tool in the study…
2012
[ES] Although post-fire soil erosion has been studied, little attention has been paid to changes in soil surface cover following fires, despite this being a key factor in understanding the water and sediment yield. This study, at Peñaflor (Spain), investigated the effect of fire on soil erosion using data from soil erosion plots and high spatial resolution photography (HSRP). Measurements were made from October 2003 to October 2005 in a control plot and a plot experimentally exposed to a fire in October 2004. Ground cover components were identified, including vegetation, bare soil, stones, charcoal and ash. Runoff and sediment concentrations were low because of the absence of intense rainfa…
Modelling the Impacts of Wildfire on Ash Thickness in a Short‐Term Period
2013
Ash can provide valuable soil protection. However, ash is also very mobile, and soil protection patterns can be quickly changed, favouring the protection of some areas and exposing others with implications for soil erosion. In this research, the effects of a high severity wildfire on ash thickness were studied, 1 and 15 days after the fire. For this evaluation, several interpolation methods were tested to identify the best spatial predictor of ash distribution. The results showed that 1 day after the fire, ash was thinner in high severity areas. Fifteen days after the fire, ash thickness decreased, and the spatial pattern changed. This implies that evaluation of fire severity based on ash t…
Distribution and projections of nitric oxide synthase neurons in the rodent superior olivary complex.
2000
The superior olivary complex (SOC), a group of interrelated brainstem nuclei, sends efferents to a variety of neuronal structures including the cochlea and the inferior colliculus. The present review describes data obtained from rodents providing evidence that the gaseous, short-living neuroactive substance nitric oxide (NO) is produced in the SOC. The NO-synthesizing enzyme neuronal NO-synthase (nNOS) has been localized by means of several methods including histochemistry and immunohistochemistry. Perikarya containing nNOS were found in several nuclei of the SOC. Their largest numbers and percentages of total cells were observed in the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body. Stained terminal…
Phosphororganische Verbindungen, 68.

Organic Phosphorus Compounds, 68.
