The present research aims at describing the efficiency of teaching practices involved in dynamic "teaching-training" processes. Our main approach consisted in relating in-class-monitoring to the results of knowledge-acquisition by pupils so as to better explain through what means the pupils’ knowledge and competence are acquired. At a theoretical level this implies combining the "process-product" paradigm along with the "ecological" paradigm [ 1]. Results obtained indicate that bringing together the analysis of teaching practices with the evaluation of their impact "which are still limited to an exploratory stage" are a method well-worth pursuing. Interspecific attraction between ground-nesting songbirds and ants: the role of nest-site selection

Abstract Background Interspecific interactions within ecological networks can influence animal fitness and behaviour, including nest-site selection of birds and ants. Previous studies revealed that nesting birds and ants may benefit from cohabitation, with interspecific attraction through their nest-site choice, but mutual interactions have not yet been tested. Functional characterization of two melanocortin (MC) receptors in lamprey showing orthology to the MC1 and MC4 receptor subtypes

Abstract Background The melanocortin (MC) receptors have a key role in regulating body weight and pigmentation. They belong to the rhodopsin family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The purpose of this study was to identify ancestral MC receptors in agnathan, river lamprey. Results We report cloning of two MC receptors from river lamprey. The lamprey receptors, designated MCa and MCb, showed orthology to the MC1 and MC4 receptor subtypes, respectively. The molecular clock analysis suggested that lamprey MC receptor genes were not duplicated recently and diverged from each other more than 400 MYR ago. In this paper, the authors aim to develop an intelligent learning environment model designed to improve students’ academic performance. The first part of this investigation explored the multidimensional nature of product meaning, referring to the variety of connotations and functions a consumer associates with a particular product category. Perceived Product Risk while Shopping Online: Does Virtual Reality vs. 2D Reduce Uncertainty?

This research explores if a virtual reality (VR) vs. a 2D display of an online shop reduces the perceived product risk. Thereby the role of the sense of presence (SoP) will be analyzed and whether the evocation of the SoP can be predicted by the possibility to interact with the virtual environment as well as by the social connectivity with a friend while shopping online. The results of three empirical studies affirm the importance of a VR display to reduce uncertainties regarding the products in online shops and outline techniques how to trigger the SoP.
