The aim of the paper is to show the Polish story of the COVID-19 pandemic as seen through a humorous looking glass. Different stages of coronavirus presence in the media and social discourse have been accompanied by the appearance and development of jokes and memes, which illustrate the rapidly changing pandemic situation. The database consists of over three hundred memes, movies, and comments collected between February and May 2020, during the pandemic humour peak, and come mainly from private WhatsApp and Facebook accounts of the researchers. Planning support and education services requires multifaceted information from professionals, parents, and children. Despite this, educators have emphasized professional opinions in individual education plans (IEPs), whereas the perspectives of children and parents have remained inconsequential. In this study, we examine the intertextual voices of children, parents, and specialists in IEPs (N = 287) drafted in Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC). It is generally recognized that Lucretius' treatment of earthquakes and pestilences (6.535-607; 1090-1286) exerted great influence on Book 6 of Seneca's Natural Questions. But while a large consensus exists that both authors tend to emphasize the moral value of scientific knowledge, further research is needed with respect to Seneca's “technical” re-use of Epicurean physics and meteorology. The novel Lubiewo by the Polish writer Michal Witkowski has been called by its reviewers “a homosexual Decamerone.” The atmosphere of the book ranges from bright situational comic through bizarre tragicomic to serious reflection, and the narration structure resembles Boccaccio’s. The heroes (or heroines) of the novel belong to a complicated and internally split world of Polish homosexuals. Their sociolects and registers are, at first glance, barely translatable into Germanic languages: partly because of the Polish grammatical gender system, partly because of their extremely deep anchoring in the Polish culture.
