Conformational studies of hexapeptides containing two dehydroamino acid residues in positions 3 and 5 in peptide chain
2008
Abstract Synthesis and structural studies of hexapeptides containing two dehydroamino acid residues in positions 3 and 5 in a peptide chain were performed. All the investigated peptides adopted bent conformations, stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen bonding, and could exist as two different conformers in solution. Only in the case of the peptide containing ΔAla residues, expected 3 10 -helical conformation was found.
Mo-Based Oxidizers as Powerful Tools for the Synthesis of Thia- and Selenaheterocycles.
2019
A highly efficient synthetic protocol for the synthesis of thia- and selenaheterocycles has been developed. By employing a MoCl5 -mediated intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling reaction, a broad variety of structural motifs was isolated in yields up to 94 %. The electrophilic key transformation is tolerated by several labile moieties like halides and tertiary alkyl groups. Due to the use of disulfide or diselenide precursors, a high atom efficiency was achieved.
Deuteron Magnetic Resonance Study of Order and Dynamics in Liquid Crystal Polymers
1984
Abstract Thermotropic nematic polyesters, specifically deuterated at different positions of the polymer chain are studied by multiple pulse dynamic NMR. Analysis of the NMR experiments is achieved, employing a comprehensive model, based on the stochastic Liouville equation. Computer simulations provide the orientational distributions and conformations of the polymer chains and the correlation times of the various motions. In the anisotropic melt the correlation times for chain reorientation and trans-gauche-isomerization are in the range of 0.1–10 ns. Decreasing the temperature of the solid polymer first freezes the intermolecular motions. Thus, below the glass transition only intramolecula…
Organocatalytic enantioselective synthesis of trifluoromethyl-containing tetralin derivatives by sequential (hetero)Michael reaction–intramolecular n…
2017
The enantioselective synthesis of tetralin derivatives bearing a trifluoromethylated all‐carbon quaternary stereocenter has been accomplished through a synthetic sequence comprising an organocatalytic β‐functionalization of ortho‐1‐trifluoromethylvinyl‐(hetero)aromatic conjugated aldehydes followed by the intramolecular nitrone 1,3‐cycloaddition reaction (INCR). Both nitromethane and N‐Cbz‐hydroxylamine were employed as nucleophiles in the initial organocatalytic conjugate addition step, which provided the chiral information required for the subsequent diastereoselective INCR. Although diastereoselectivity was moderate, good yields and enantioselectivities were, in general, obtained. Intere…
Base-Dependent Stereodivergent Intramolecular Aza-Michael Reaction: Asymmetric Synthesis of 1,3-Disubstituted Isoindolines
2013
The nucleophilic addition (A(N)) / intramolecular aza-Michael reaction (IMAMR) process on Ellman's tert-butylsulfinyl imines, bearing a Michael acceptor in the ortho position, is studied. This reaction affords 1,3-disubstituted isoindolines with a wide range of substituents in good yields and diastereoselectivities. Interestingly, careful choice of the base for the aza-Michael step allows either the cis or the trans diastereoisomers to be exclusively obtained. This stereodivergent cyclization has enabled the synthesis of C2-symmetric bisacetate-substituted isoindolines. In addition, bisacetate isoindolines bearing two well-differentiated ester moieties are also noteworthy because they may a…
Probing the Folding of Peptide–Polymer Conjugates Using the π-Dimerization of Viologen End-Groups
2020
The synthesis of a foldable viologen-functionalized peptide–polymer conjugate is presented. The ABA-type triblock conjugate with a PEG polymer was capped with a FHFHF pentapeptide sequence and further modified with a viologen building block at both chain ends. The pH-responsive peptide domains fold into an intermediate structure inducing close proximity of the viologen units, which upon a reduction step form π-dimers of the radical cation. Overall the intramolecular folding and intermolecular self-assembly process leads to the formation of supramolecular nanorods. Mixing of viologen-peptide–polymer conjugates with unfunctionalized conjugates leads to crosslinking of the nanorods and hydroge…
Erweiterte Konjugation in unsymmetrischen Stilbenylsquarainen
1998
Extended Conjugation in Stilbenylsquaraines Unsymmetrical 1-aryl-3-stilbenylsquaraines 2a–e and 1,3-bis(stilbenyl)squaraines 3a–c were prepared by CC coupling reactions of the corresponding substituted arenes with derivatives of squaric acid (Schemes 2 and 3). Dialkylamino and alkoxy groups enhance the solubility of these dyes and enlarge the intramolecular charge transfer of these donor–acceptor–donor systems. The extended conjugation of the stilbene units – in comparison with arene building blocks – leads to significant bathochromic shifts in the Vis/NIR absorption spectra.
Designing a Transition State Analogue for the Disfavored Intramolecular Michael Addition of 2-(2-Hydroxyethyl)acrylate Esters
1999
The rate-determining steps for the intramolecular 1,2 and 1,4 addition reactions in basic medium of methyl 2-(2-hydroxyethyl)acrylate to give the corresponding γ-lactone and tetrahydrofuran, respec...
Kinetische untersuchungen zur reaktionsfähighkeit von chlormethylgruppen in methylendiphenolen
1984
The chloromethyl derivatives of 16 differently substituted methylenediphenols were synthesized for the first time. To compare their reactivity, the solvolysis in methanol and the animolysis with an excess of p-nitroaniline in dimethyl sulfoxide were studied kinetically at 25°C. The rate constants for the methanolysis do not differ very much, beside of the fact that para-chloromethyl derivatives react about 100 times faster than ortho-chloromethyl derivatives. However, for the aminolysis a large acceleration up to 103 was found for compounds having both hydroxyl groups in ortho-position to the methylene bridge. Obviously, the cleavage of the OH bond, which occurs in the rate determining step…
Herstellung, charakterisierung und lösungseigenschaften von einheitlichen styrol-α-methylstyrol block-copolymeren
1977
An improved anionic polymerization technique for the preparation of highly uniform styrene/α-methylstyrene linear two-block copolymers is described. Three sets of samples with molecular weights M were prepared under equal experimental conditions, namely polystyrenes (2 · 105 < M < 3 · 106), poly(α-methylstyrene)s (7 · 104 < M < 4 · 106), and block copolymers (2 · 105 < M < 2,5 · 106). Ultracentrifugation in a density-gradient does not show any chemical heterogeneities in the block copolymers. The molecular polydispersity U = Mw/Mn–1 is U = 0,03 or less as estimated from GPC-measurements. The high molecular and chemical homogeneity of the block copolymers and the optical similarity of the tw…
