A cluster of cuticle protein genes of Drosophila melanogaster at 65A: sequence, structure and evolution

The cluster maps at 65A 5-6 on the left arm of the third chromosome, in agreement with the previously determined location of a putative cluster encompassing the genes for the third instar larval cuticle proteins LCP5, LCP6 and LCP8. Coordinates of sampling locations for contemporary publications are taken from field observations (GPS), but older ones - published schematic maps. Organotin(IV) compounds are characterized by the presence of at least one covalent C–Sn bond. The compounds contain tetravalent {Sn} centers and are classified as mono-, di-, tri-, and tetraorganotin(IV), depending on the number of alkyl (R) or aryl (Ar) moieties bound. The anions are usually Cl, F, O2, OH,–COO, or –S. It seems that the nature of the anionic group has only secondary importance in biological activity. In Drosophila melanogaster, the predominant hydrocarbons on the cuticle of mature female and male flies are radically different and tend to stimulate or inhibit male courtship, respectively. This sexual difference depends largely upon the number of double bonds (one in males and two in females) added by desaturase enzymes. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how a disciplinary approach is an excellent tool in the field of forensic investigations, capable of answering the questions posed by the institution and obtaining as different and as much information as possible on the findings analyzed, reconstructing the history of often decontextualized artifacts. In the present work, the results of the FTIR-ATR and SEM-EDX analyses performed on micro-fragments and powders taken from a marble bas-relief, seized by the Cosenza Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Anti-Counterfeiting (Calabria, Italy), are reported.
Multi-scale theoretical investigation of molecular hydrogen adsorption over graphene: coronene as a case study

The physisorption of molecular hydrogen onto coronene is studied using a multi-scale theoretical approach with Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. We consider two different kinds of model conformation for the approach of hydrogen towards the coronene i.e., systematic and random. For the systematic attack of hydrogen over coronene, the resulting potential energy profiles from DFT analysis are further found to resemble the Morse potential, and even the highly flexible Murrell–Sorbie (M–S) potential. The resulting M–S fitting also shows a zero-point energy correction of ∼16–17%. On the other hand, the potential energies from the random approach…

RNA polymerase (pol) II establishes many protein-protein interactions with transcriptional regulators to coordinate different steps of transcription. Although some of these interactions have been well described, little is known about the existence of RNA pol II regions involved in contact with transcriptional regulators. We hypothesize that conserved regions on the surface of RNA pol II contact transcriptional regulators.
