Diode laser treatment of a large oral hemangioma
2014
Background. Several options can be taken into account to treat hemangiomas; the most considered is the surgical excision, although total removal is not always possible, especially for large lesions, since vital structures can be involved. Another treatment includes the diode laser therapy. Objectives. The aim of this study was to report a clinical case of micro-invasive treatment of a large oral hemangioma in the buccal mucosa using a 900 nm diode laser. Case report. A 49-year-old female patient was referred to our sector of oral medicine reporting difficult chewing, swelling, and occasionally bleeding, from a congenital neoformation. Clinical examination revealed a dark blue and multiglobu…
Tunable dual-wavelength thulium-doped fiber laser in the range from 2067 to 2073.5 nm
2017
A tunable dual-wavelength lineal cavity Tm-doped fiber laser is presented. The generation of the laser lines is based on the use of cascaded fiber Bragg gratings and a Hi-Bi fiber optic loop mirror.
4W continuous-wave narrow-linewidth tunable solid-state laser source at 546nm by externally frequency doubling a ytterbium-doped single-mode fiber la…
2009
A high-power continuous-wave coherent light source at 545.5nm is described. We use 8.3W from a solid-state ytterbium-doped single-mode fiber oscillator/amplifier system as input into an external frequency doubling stage. This system produces up to 4.1 W of stable green single-frequency laser radiation. We characterize the light source by performing absorption spectroscopy on iodine across the full tuning range of the fiber laser and saturation spectroscopy on one strong iodine line of the doppler-broadened spectrum.
Dense drug-eluting biodegradable Fe-Ag nanocomposites
2021
Abstract Biodegradable metals in orthopedics are aimed to eliminate secondary the surgical intervention for implant removal, and thus improve patient compliance, reduce surgery costs and the risk of infections. In addition, biodegradable implants could be loaded with different drugs to prevent the growth of pathogens and the development of bone infections, kill remaining cancer cells after tumor resection or stimulate bone regeneration. However, drugs undergo thermal decomposition under the conditions of conventional metal fabrication processes. In this work, we describe the fabrication of a dense drug-eluting biodegradable Fe-Ag nanocomposite containing 10 vol% of Ag and loaded with the an…
The ground electronic state of KCs studied by Fourier transform spectroscopy
2008
We present here the first analysis of laser induced fluorescence (LIF) of the KCs molecule obtaining highly accurate data and perform a direct potential construction for the X (1)Sigma(+) ground state in a wide range of internuclear distances. KCs molecules were produced by heating a mixture of K and Cs metals in a heat pipe at a temperature of about 270 degrees C. KCs fluorescence was induced by different laser sources: the 454.5, 457.9, 465.8, and 472.7 nm lines of an Ar(+) laser, a dye laser with Rhodamine 6G dye (excitation at around 16 870 cm(-1)), and 850 and 980 nm diode lasers (11 500-11 900 and 10 200-10 450 cm(-1) tuning ranges, respectively). The LIF to the ground state was recor…
An In Vitro Stereomicroscopic Evaluation of Bioactivity between Neo MTA Plus, Pro Root MTA, BIODENTINE & Glass Ionomer Cement Using Dye Penetrati…
2021
The ideal root end filling material should form a tight seal in the root canal by adhering to the cavity walls. Several materials have been used for root end filling. The present study aims to find out and compare the bioactivity of Neo MTA Plus, Pro Root MTA White, BIODENTINE & glass ionomer cement as root end filling materials using 1% methylene blue as tracer. Materials and methods: 80 extracted human permanent maxillary anterior teeth were used in the study. They were divided into four groups. Specimens were sectioned transversely in the cervical area to separate the crown from the root. The root canal was obturated with gutta percha and zinc oxide eugenol sealers. Thereafter, each …
One diode circuital model of light soaking phenomena in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
2018
Abstract In this work, we report on the modelling of light soaking effect on Ruthenium-based Dye Sensitized Solar cells (DSSCs). Such a phenomenon can be detected when exposing the cells at increasing hours of illumination and produces a reversible performance increase. Starting from the results obtained through the electro-optical characterization of the cells, we applied a one-diode circuital-model. Our results show a good agreement between the experimental and the simulated data, with a mean square error in the order of 10−12 and a maximum error in current lower than 0.6%. Finally such results allowed us to infer some precise trends followed by the cells main electrical parameters and of…
Wearable photoplethysmography device prototype for wireless cardiovascular monitoring
2014
The aim of the study was to develop a prototype system of the smart garment for real time telemetric monitoring of human cardiovascular activity. Two types of photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors for low noise and artefact free signal recording from various sites of the human body that were suitable for integration into smart textile were investigated. The reflectance sensors with single and multiple photodiodes based on "pulse-duration-based signal conversion" signal acquisition principle were designed and evaluated. The technical parameters of the system were measured both on bench and in vivo. Overall, both types of PPG sensors showed acceptable signal quality SNR 86.56±3.00 dB, dynamic ra…
Monte Carlo simulation of high‐order harmonics generation in bulk semiconductors and submicron structures
2004
To qualify the feasibility of standard semiconductor materials and Schottky‐barrier diodes (SBDs) for THz high‐order harmonic generation and extraction, the harmonic intensity, intrinsic noise and signal‐to‐noise ratio are calculated by the Monte Carlo method when a periodic high‐frequency large‐amplitude external signal is applied to a semiconductor device. Due to very high signal‐to‐noise ratio heavily doped GaAs SBDs are found to exhibit conditions for frequency mixing and harmonic extraction that are definitively superior to those of bulk materials.
