Abstract Background Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) has entrenched itself as one of the main approaches for the treatment of paroxysmal symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF). Pulmonary vein isolation prevents focal triggers from pulmonary veins from initiating AF paroxysms. As standard—PVI is performed through the inferior vena cava (IVC) approach, through the femoral vein. However, there are conditions when this approach is not appropriate or is not available. The ecological and distributive data on macromycetes of Isola del Giglio (Tuscany Archipelago, ltaly), published in 1900 by Stefano Sommier; are integrated by new data on forty-live macromycetes. The recorded taxa are new for the island with the exception of seven species previously reported by Sommier.

I serbatoi di stoccaggio degli impianti petrolchimici costituiscono una seria minaccia alla salvaguardia dell’ambiente, a causa delle conseguenze disastrose derivanti da un loro collasso, come messo in luce dai recenti eventi catastrofici. Pertanto, l’ENEA ed il GLIS hanno intrapreso un’intensa attività di ricerca e di informazione per sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica su tali importanti pericoli. Tra le cause più frequenti di collasso si citano le azioni sismiche, particolarmente rilevanti in zone prossime a faglie attive, come risulta quella di Priolo Gargallo, in provincia di Siracusa, già sede di sismi distruttivi. Si presentano i risultati ottenuti tramite simulazioni informatiche che hanno consentito di verificare e ottimizzare la trasmissione del calore attraverso un sistema sottovuoto in vetro per le facciate trasparenti. Ucraina è stata riconosciuta una violazione degli artt. 3 e 13 CEDU, in riferimento al regime penitenziario di isolamento che ha inibito a un condannato all’ergastolo di parlare con altri soggetti ristretti.

In the two decades following Loewi’s work (8,9) on the frog heart several research groups tried to use the isolated heart preparation from higher vertebrates for further investigations on synthesis, release and inactivation of acetylcholine (ACh). Effects of chronic exercise on myocardial refractoriness: a study on isolated rabbit heart

Aim:  To determine whether chronic physical training increases atrial and ventricular refractoriness in isolated rabbit heart. Methods:  Trained rabbits were submitted to a protocol of treadmill running. A Simulation Analysis of VSM Control for RES plants in a Small Mediterranean Island

The paper presents an application of Virtual Synchronous Machine control for managing inverter-interfaced renewable energy sources in a small Mediterranean island not supplied by the main grid. In the proposed analysis, the island's renewables-based generators area assumed interfaced to the grid by voltage source converters with a swing controller and a vector-current controller with two different options for the reference current for regulating the voltage at the Point of Common Coupling and the active power output. The system, modeled in PScad environment, allows to verify the response of the renewables-based generators with VSM control in the presence of a fault in the grid.
