Computer Aided Optimal Design of High Power Density EMI Filters

Power density of power converter systems is becoming an increasingly stringent design constraint for a wide range of applications. Size reduction of EMI filter in power converters is an important aspect due to its significant impact on the overall converter volume and weight. In order to take on this issue, a computer aided procedure for a fast selection of optimal discrete EMI filter components and configuration is described in this paper. The proposed technique is a rule-based automatic procedure based on suitable databases that consider datasheets information of commercially available passive components (e.g. magnetic cores, capacitors). Switching from Transdermal Drugs: An Observational "N of 1" Study of Fentanyl and Buprenorphine

The aim of this study was to confirm that the concomitant presence of transdermal fentanyl (TTS FE) and buprenorphine (TTS BU) may be feasible without important consequences, using doses presumed to be equianalgesic. A prospective "N of 1" study was carried out in a sample of volunteers with cancer pain receiving stable doses of TTS FE or TTS BU, with adequate pain and symptom control. In the study design, each patient provided data before and after a switch from one opioid to the other and then back to the previous one. Surgical time for graft preparation using different suture techniques

Background: The purpose of the present study was to compare the operative time for graft prepa- ration using different techniques for graft sutur- ing. Material and methods: Flexor profundus tendons were harvested from fresh pig hind-leg trotters. Three different suture techniques were investigat- ed: the Krackow stitch (K), the Whipstitch (W), and the Modified Finger-Trap suture (MFT). Ten- dons were sutured starting at 10 mm from the dis- tal free end of the tendon. The suture configura- tions of the Krackow stitch and Whipstitch were completed with five suture throws. H<inf>∞</inf> synchronization of Markovian jump master-slave systems with delay

The problem of synchronization is investigated for a class of master-slave systems with time-varying delays and Markovian switching parameters. Using an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a synchronization law which includes the master-slave parameters is established for designing a mode-dependent output feedback control law in terms of LMIs. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the method.

In this chapter, an output feedback control proach is proposed for exponential synchronization problem of master slave systems with both discrete and distributed time-varying delays and Markovian switching parameters. Using an appropriate Lyapunov Krasovskii functional, some delay-dependent sufficient conditions and a synchronization law which include the master slave parameters are established for designing a mode-dependent output feedback control law in terms of linear matrix inequalities. However, in reality the sounds surrounding us are spectrally and temporally complex, dynamic and overlapping. Thus, research using natural sounds is crucial in understanding the operation of the brain in its natural environment. Acquired amusia is a common disorder after damage to the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory. However, its neurocognitive mechanisms, especially the relative contribution of perceptual and cognitive factors, are still unclear. We studied cognitive and auditory processing in the amusic brain by performing neuropsychological testing as well as magnetoencephalography (MEG) measurements of frequency and duration discrimination using magnetic mismatch negativity (MMNm) recordings. Technical and economical comparison between different topologies of PV plant under mismatch effect

This paper presents a technical and economical comparative analysis between two topology of photovoltaic plant. In particular the performances of series-parallel (SP) and total cross tied (TCT), topologies are taken into account, referring to a partially shaded photovoltaic plant.
