Laulunopetus oli keskeinen oppiaine kansakoulussa koko sen toiminnan ajan. 1950-luvun lopulla oppiaine alkoi hitaasti muuttua musiikinopetuksen suuntaan Orff-soittimiston tullessa osaksi opetusta. Tutkielman tarkoitus on selvittää miten koulusoitinten tulo näkyi kansakoulunopettajien valmistuksessa. Tutkielma keskittyy lukuvuoden 1963-1964 musiikin pedagogiikkaan Helsingin opettajakorkeakoulussa ja keskeinen lähde tässä työssä on alkuperäinen opiskelijan muistiinpanoaineisto Ellen Urhon pitämiltä luennoilta. Increased neurogenesis has been reported in neurodegenerative disease, but its significance is unclear. In a mouse model of prion disease, Gomez-Nicola et al. detect increased neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus that partially counteracts neuronal loss. Targeting neurogenesis may have therapeutic potential.

Objective: To assess cognitive function in variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD). We describe the neuropsychological profiles of 10 cases and compare these data with cross sectional data obtained from patients with histologically confirmed sporadic CJD and cases with inherited prion disease with confirmed mutations in the prion protein gene. Methods: Patients referred to the Specialist Cognitive Disorders Clinic at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the National Prion Clinic at St Mary's Hospital, London for further investigation of suspected CJD were recruited into the study. Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in an Italian woman.

Summary As of May, 2002, 128 cases of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob (vCJD) disease have been identified in the UK, France, and Ireland. We report the first case of vCJD in Italy. The patient was a young Italian woman who had never travelled to a country with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). She was diagnosed by cerebral MRI and western blot analysis of tonsil biopsy samples. The results of these analyses suggest that vCJD in continental Europe and the UK share genetic, clinical, and neuroimaging features, with similar western blot patterns. Vuonna 2016 käyttöön otetuissa perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteissa osa B1-oppimäärän ruotsin kielen opetuksesta siirtyi yläluokilta alaluokille. Toisen kotimaisen kielen, ruotsin, keskipitkän oppimäärän opiskelu aloitetaan nykyisin jo kuudennella vuosiluokalla. Tämän muutoksen osana myös luokanopettajien opetustehtäviin tuli mukaan ruotsin kielen opettaminen. Ruotsin kieltä voi siis opiskelun alkaessa opettaa alaluokilla sekä luokanopettaja että ruotsin kielen aineenopettaja.
