Co-GLAD sputtering of tungsten-based nanostructured metallic thin films
2022
A structural and electrical study of tungsten-based metal thin films prepared by co-sputtering GLAD is the subject of this thesis. For this purpose, three different systems (W-W, W-Ag and W-Mo) have been developed using two opposite metallic targets (tilt angle α = 80° with the substrate). In addition to the choice of the second metallic element, different parameters involved in the growth of these films have undergone a variation (working pressure, thickness and second target current) to understand their influence on structural and electrical behaviors of these films. All three systems present a columnar and porous structure. The morphology of these films (especially the inclination of the…
The look, an epigrammatic and anthological vector in the Selecta epigrammata graeca latine versa of Janus Cornarius
2022
In 1529, a German physician, Janus Cornarius, published an anthology of epigrams entitled Selecta epigrammata graeca latine versa. A polymathic scholar, a committed philologist and an independent humanist, the author offers a compilation of Greek epigrams translated into Latin, drawing on several hypotexts. The theme of the gazing, present in many epigrams, allows to highlight the main characteristics of the epigrammatic genre as well as of the anthological form and reveals itself as a precious asset of the festivitas as much as of the transmission of the eruditio. Three types of viewpoints are constantly present in the work : the characters’ one as well the reader’s and the author’s. This d…

Duration from sowing to flowering is the most important trait influencing adaptation in pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan), but the inheritance of this trait has not been elucidated clearly. Crosses were made between two early (60 to 70d) and one late (160 to 170d) flowering pigeonpea genotype and F1, F2 and BC1 populations produced. These populations, comprising 60 to 100 parents, 30 F1, 400F2 and 40 to 50 BC1 plants, were grown under natural (mean13.4 hd-1) and artificially extended (to 15 hd-1) daylength and duration from sowing to first flowering recorded. Genetic analysis of the segregation ratios, supported by Chi-square tests, indicated that the duration from sowing to flowering in each of t…
Neural activities of IL-6-type cytokines often depend on soluble cytokine receptors
1999
Cytokines of the interleukin-6 (IL-6) family participate in regulatory and inflammatory processes within the nervous system. IL-6, ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) and IL-11 act via specific membrane receptors which, together with their ligands, associate with signal-transducing receptor subunits thereby initiating cytoplasmic signalling. Cells which only express signal-transducing receptor subunits but no ligand binding subunits for IL-6, CNTF and IL-11 are refractory to these cytokines. An unusual feature of the IL-6 cytokine family is that the soluble forms of the ligand binding receptor subunits generated by one cell type in complex with their ligands can directly stimulate the signal…

Wild-type JAK2 secondary acute erythroleukemia developing after JAK2-V617F-mutated primary myelofibrosis.
2009
A 54-year-old female patient developed acute erythroleukemia after an 8-year course of primary myelofibrosis. The latter harbors the JAK2-V617F mutation and was treated with hydroxyurea and anagrelide. A bone marrow trephine biopsy disclosed 2 morphologically distinct areas of chronic primary myelofibrosis and acute erythroleukemia. Microdissection and a separate molecular pathological analysis was performed. Although the activating JAK2-V617F mutation was not maintained in blasts of acute erythroleukemia, it was detectable in the chronic phase of primary myelofibrosis, indicating that this mutation did not play a role in the leukemic transformation of erythroid cells.
Structure and Shear Response of Janus Colloid–Polymer Mixtures in Solution
2020
We investigate the structure and rheological properties of dilute colloid-polymer mixtures at rest and under shear via molecular simulations that take into account hydrodynamic interactions. Mixtures of amphiphilic Janus colloids (JCs) and hydrophobic/amphiphilic polymers are considered for various solvent qualities and polymer concentrations. Free polymers, small polymer droplets, and hybrid aggregates coexist in mixtures with slightly hydrophobic homopolymers. As the solvent quality worsens, all polymers aggregate into small droplets, covered and stabilized by the JCs. In mixtures with amphiphilic polymers, we observe the coexistence of free polymers, purely polymeric micelles, and hybrid…
